At a sparsely-attended meeting on the evening of Monday, Sept. 10, in the West End, local and state officials covered a lot of ground regarding gun safety. [More]In lieu of public demand, they just take it on themselves.
The question I have is why was it "sparsely-attended"? Why were the only ones in attendance a trio of gun-grabbing totalitarian wannabes and a pair of virtue-oozing MILMs?
Where were the gun owners, and why didn't they make their presence and objections overwhelming?
It can be done, you know. But only if meetings to plan public policy and their agendas are announced -- and it sounds like this one was purposely planned to evade scrutiny and challenge.
Question for those who know: Does Virginia have some kind of open government law? True, private groups can put together whatever they want wherever they want, but when it involves public officials for the purpose of crafting public policy, is that left completely without public cognizance?
They made sure the media was there.
UPDATE: How about this?
