Going for a Kill Shot

New York Attorney General Moves To Dissolve The NRA After Fraud Investigation [More]
This diverts them from the election right when focus is most needed.

This is why I've maintained LaPierre is hanging on for dear life. There's no way he can front the legal bills he'll be incurring on his own.

She may be able to withdraw the state issued charter, and probably can prosecute any of the executives or board of directors for failure of their duties under NY state laws, she cannot effectively disband the membership.

Nor can she stop members from moving to a reconstituted NRA chartered in another state.

Here's how I see it, from the perspective of a life member who joined the organization in the 1960's.

NRA started out as an organization aimed at improving the dismal marksmanship skills displayed by the largely conscript troops of the Union Army in the Civil War. Over the years, it branched out a bit, and began covering hunting related issues, It was never very much concerned with Second Amendment issues until midway through the 20th Century largely because there was no need. There simply wasn't much discussion about what the Second Amendment meant or how it applied to current day issues. But life didn't stay that way, it never does.

But where life changed, and opposition to RKBA grew exponentially, NRA didn't, not much anyway, until the Cincinnati Reforms brought people like Harlon Carter, Neal Knox, and Tanya Metaxa into positions where they could refocus the organization on a defense of RKBA.

But that didn't last for a number of reasons, many of which involved Wayne LaPierre.

The silver lining of the current fix NRA leadership has put the organization in is that it might just be the kick in the ass needed to clean up the wreckage and create the 800 pound pro RKBA gorilla that NRA claims it is, that many in the membership wish it was, but in fact, has never existed outside of a Wayne LaPierre speech.
