There is an old joke that "MD" after a name indicates "Minor Deity".
As a mere medical student challenging dogma presented by a MD, the medical student committed blasphemy. The medical student should be grateful that the punishment for this blasphemy is institutional ostracism instead of the more traditional stoning.
