Taken for Granted

“I know [Biden is] incredibly proud to be an American and has great respect for the anthem and all that it represents, especially for our men and women serving in uniform all around the world,” Psaki said. “He would also say, of course, that part of that pride in our country means recognizing there are moments where we are, as a country, haven’t lived up to our highest ideals. And it means respecting the rights of people granted to them in the Constitution to peacefully protest.” [More]

That is some industrial-grade weasel-wording right there, along with yet another demonstration of imperial arrogance on unalienable rights.

In fairness, Trump didn't get it, either.

Wrong. The Constitution doesn't grant anything to anyone. See US v Cruikshank.

Plus this is another place where the Left needs to have a "sit down" and get their story straight. Consider the following:

"And please, show me where it says protesters are supposed to be polite and peaceful."

OK, Chris. Try this on for size:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” -- First Amendment text.

President Biden, here's one for you:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." -- Second Amendment text.

Last but not least, here's one for you Ms. Psaki:

"The right of the people peaceably to assemble for lawful purposes existed long before the adoption of the Constitution of the United States. In fact, it is, and always has been, one of the attributes of citizenship under a free government. It 'derives its source,' to use the language of Chief Justice Marshall, in Gibbons v. Ogden, 9 Wheat. 211, 'from those laws whose authority is acknowledged by civilized man throughout the world.' It is found wherever civilization exists. It was not, therefore, a right granted to the people by the Constitution. The government of the United States when established found it in existence, with the obligation on the part of the States to afford it protection." -- US v Cruikshank text.

One major flaw we see repeatedly exposed is that President Biden, Jen Psaki, Chris Cuomo, and others, are trying to run a government that they really know little about. Nor are they apparently interested in learning how it is supposed to work.
