Government at its finest. Always careful to ensure that inanimate objects (and not their own personnel) take the brunt of the blame.
Of course, next time, it will be the corner torchiere, of the magazine rack, or the coffee table, or the “take a number” dispenser, and great effort will be spent on blaming those objects in their turn.
Not unrelated, objects-over-people-wise, the city of Portland is rendering the landscape unusable by anyone to "deter" homeless camps. As always, government has a firm grasp on the wrong end of the equation.
