Oh, good, something else to tear down when complaints are made about the Mercury 7 being exclusively white males...
Do you think having been anti-gun will save him...?

Senator John Glenn was a typical corrupt political hack. That isn't a surprise since his mere orbiting the earth was the apparent sum of his qualifications for office.
Maybe that explains the supposed bi-partisan agreement to apparently grant Glenn sainthood.
He was an advocate for trashing the 2nd Amendment...so much for claims of Glenn's patriotism.
He was a Senator whose vote could be counted on favoring the wild out-of-control financial spending of the federal government that continues unabated to the present bizarre reality that confronts us...that infinite debt is not a bad thing to be feared so spend*spend*spend, 'til Daddy takes the T-bird away!
There was an instance where a Senate Bill was proposed that would require legislation to cite the part or parts of the Constitution that authorized the Bill in question. Senator Glenn anguished that if that sort of Bill were to be passed, most of the legislation emitted from Congress would be disqualified as unConstitutional. This was a startling revelation of the true nature of the actual and regular goings-on in DC that Glenn deserves a measure of credit for...but not much, as Glenn expressed no difficulty in voting for legislation that was violative of the Constitution...and his oath, the breaking of which was not a problem for the orbiting Senator.
It is more than fitting that rules must be broken in order to hurry-up to honor this particular political critter.
