Documentary filmmaker releases Fast and Furious preview

Fuller has been busy over the past year, flying to Arizona from his home in North Carolina, conducting interviews with key people in the story including family members and law enforcement personnel. [More]
This afternoon's Gun Rights Examiner report notes progress on a project that's been over a year in the making.

All This and Whores, Too

Syjuco, Cesar Ubaldo and Arjyl Revereza, a Philippines customs official, were charged earlier this year with violating arms import laws by selling a grenade launcher, a mortar launcher and other weapons to the undercover agent who said he was interested in buying high-powered weapons that could be used by drug cartels in the U.S. and Mexico. Oh look, another rabbit hole corridor for no one to trace back to the warren...

Univision Fast and Furious special corroborates information reported last year

"That’s certainly the case when the report focused on convicted and incarcerated gun seller Hugh Crumpler and 'Operation Castaway,' both subjects of numerous Gun Rights Examiner and Sipsey Street Irregulars reports beginning as early as July of 2011, and including Crumpler’s story in his own words. " [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report further validates that new media is an indispensable source for important and credible information the “mainstream” press either misses, refuses to cover, or spins to fit an agenda.

Be great if this pans out...

In true "Commissar Vanishes" tradition, the website that could tell us has been scrubbed.

Looking around at the Columbia culture, the thought strikes that for a place that incubates socialists, these indignant children are either pretty well off or pretty well taken care of.

It's Not Like We Didn't See THIS Coming

Gov. Jerry Brown outlaws open carrying of long guns in California cities [More]
 Ol' Gomer's pulling double-duty today.

I recall being "schooled" by a "political pragmatist" some time back for pointing out some inconvenient truths.

It seems those of us with "axes to grind" just don't get political nuances and the art of the possible.

Or maybe we do.

Yes, of course I know about Brown filing the McDonald amicus. As I said at the time:
AG Moonbeam isn't doing this because he likes us. California has a slew of anti-gun edicts he wants to position himself to defend.
And now, of course, the same "activists" who loudly condemned open carry every chance they got are condemning the open carriers for being responsible for this new law, as opposed to blaming the ones who passed it.

Yeah, but if they hadn't exercised their rights, they wouldn't have been banned, goes the logic.  What good such a right is that can't be exercised without being banned remains unstated.

Oh but now, since open carry is illegal and concealed carry is so tightly controlled, "shall issue" just got a real shot with the Supreme Court! At least that's the new silver lining being bandied about by those who understand things better than poor SNBIers like me (yes, that's actually used in some "pro gun" circles as a term of derision).

I guess if they ever agree to hear such a case and if the composition of the court hasn't changed by then...

That's Some Criteria

Really? [Read]

So, if we're to believe that armed right-wing extremists are the threat they're made out to be, there will be nothing allowed that advances citizen disarmament? Because if we believe what they're telling us, that could "incite or provoke violence"?

See, when you rule, you don't need to be consistent.

The Sounds of Silence

A year after the sound and fury over a state law allowing concealed guns in bars and restaurants, there has been silence. [More]

That's Some Plan

It looks like the plan he's demanding is that we all be as helpless as he was.  And if we refuse, to have it forced on us by men with guns. [Read]

Funny, who the segment of the population who self-identify by race pay tribute to.

For Those Inclined to Offer Prayers

This fine gentleman, only the second man in my life I've asked for an autograph from, could use them. [Read]

UPDATE:  Workman left this comment two hours ago in response to a question about "foul play":
[T]he man is in his late 70s. Elderly people sometimes fall down. He appears to be doing okay at last report.

I raise this point because others have also asked via email and we need to keep it real.  The guy with the inside line to updates will be Dave, so keep an eye on his column.  I'll report changes/developments here, but he'll have them first and all I'll be doing is linking to him.

UPDATE: Kurt Hofmann tells me the Illinois Carry forum has "encouraging news...He's supposedly conscious, speaking clearly, in a regular room (rather than intensive care), and will not need surgery."

UPDATE: Again from Kurt:

Colleen Lawson's husband David was one of the  co-plaintiff's in McDonald v. Chicago (or maybe they both were).  They've both been long active in the Illinois gun rights scene.  This is on her Facebook page:

He was standing at home and felt dizzy and did not fall, just let himself crumple to the floor. After ten minutes, he felt well enough to rise and out himself to bed, tho it was mid-afternoon. His kids found him like that and rushed him to the hospital, where it was determined that he had blood on his brain and
put him in ICU. Subsequent tests determined that surgery is not indicated at this point, and that it discontinuing his blood pressure meds may be efficacious in relieving that pressure. The docs felt he had been on them too long and didn't need them, and he reports a marked increase in feeling better this morning, following discontinuance of the blood pressure meds. As of last night, he was moved out of ICU and into a regular room. Although visits are discouraged without prior consent of the family, Otis welcomes your cards and has given permission for this status update to be shared with any interested persons.

Cards and well wishes may be sent to:

Christ Community Hospital, 4440 W 95th St

Otis McDonald sends his love and gratitude for your inquiries, prayers, and well-wishes.

Fast and Furious whistleblower Dodson demands retraction from Fortune

Gun Rights Examiner had warned Congressional investigators to watch for retaliatory smears early on in its Fast and Furious coverage, and relayed a report in July of last year that Privacy Act-protected documents had been leaked by the Justice Department in an attempt to discredit Dodson. Noting how the administration’s water carriers in the media were quick to embrace the Eban report with the intent to do just that to the Congressional gunwalking investigation...[More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes the slings and arrows of outrageous Fortune being fired right back.

En Route

Vanderboegh just called me from Charlotte, a leg on his flight to Orlando for the Gun Rights Policy Conference.  That made me think what he really needs is one of those Indiana Jones flight-in-progress maps.

I regret I can't make it this time. If you're there, or know anyone who is, make sure to say "Hi" to him.
