If Bloomberg Can Break the Law, Why Can't We?

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa joined with gun control advocates Monday to call for a city law requiring gun owners to report lost or stolen weapons.
California law gives the state preemption, meaning cities can't legally enact their own more restrictive measures.

That never stops them, of course, as evidenced by the San Francisco handgun ban.

And our lawless anti-gun courts and lawless anti-gun attorney general will probably let them get away with it.

It seems everyone is entitled to break laws not to their liking except us citizens.

Los Angeles already has a few laws on the books that violate preemption.

However, most of them are merely nuisances of the slightest degree.

We can't buy subcompact handguns in LA, but we can buy them in Burbank, Culver City, and even West Hollywood, then possess them wherever we want in the state.

The one LA ordinance that really chafes is the ammo sales register, where they write down what you buy and thumbprint you. It's only a minor pain when buying ammo in a store, but it prohibits LA residents from ordering ammo online. (Well, it MAY prohibit that... it's vague.)

Of course, there's a bill in the assembly that will make this problem state-wide, so our suffering will soon be exported.
