Undersheriff--don't you mean "...is alleged to have made..."? Nothing prejudicial about this media account that will make a presumption of innocence problematic...

Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe said detectives did not know why Shamaya had the guns.
It seems safe to say the Undersheriff has a certain mindset...
It's not the media's job to portray Angel sympathetically. But if all one knew about him was what they read from these two accounts, the fact that there might be another side to this would be lost.

No, it's not their job to portray Angel in a sympathetic light, but it IS their job to be fair. These cretins have shown outright hostility in the way the wrote their articles, and they did so intentionally.
The Free Press will never portray anyone like Angel in a positive light.
Now, for thugs arrested for rape and murder, they usually comment that these are "alleged crimes."
I am sure the Freep will conveniently forget all about Angel's court drama if he wins the case. If he doesn't, they will be there salivating.
As a side note, in spite of this situation, the Oakland County Sheriff's Department does a great job. And giving the Undersheriff a little bit of slack, our print media in Detroit has been known for it's failure to accurately quote. One of the people I work with routinely, a city employee, shares on several occasions how our print media misquotes her, or even totally botches up stuff she says. I've experienced it myself.
The deliberate slant used by the media is despicable. They have long ago forgotten what the True Intent was for their job. They were meant to be a PROTECTION for the people. And warn us of government abuses. To keep us knowledgeable of the facts.
Now they are sensationializing 'puppets' in the hands of their masters. I'm damn glad there are people like you, David, who attempt to bring us the REAL story.
Granted, we know not the full story behind the situation with Angel. But, having known you, David, for these last few months. And gauging, by the way that you conduct yourself and the care you take in assuring the facts. Leads me to believe that you wouldn't back Angel, the way that you have, unless you were convinced of his character.
Our system of society and government is in dire need of reorganization. We need to return to the basic Founding Principles, before it's to late
