The Wrong Question

No, it raises competency questions.

Get a GRIP

U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) and U.S. Representative Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (R-Ariz.) today introduced the Gun-owner Registration Information Protection Act (GRIP Act) to prohibit states, localities, or any other organization from using federal funding to maintain gun registries. [More]

That none of the registries list criminals with guns and are therefore useless for that purpose doesn't occur to any Democrats or "commonsense gun safety" groups? Or of course it does, and that's not why they're doing it...

Pre-Confiscation Registration Advances

Background checks pass in the House:

  • H.R. 1446: (Smith and Fitzpatrick are the two GOP Democrats)
  • H.R. 8: (This one has eight Republiquislings-- I don't have time to scroll through them right now)
[Via Roger J]

While many expected Democrats to support gun control, eight Republicans joined the anti-gunners in their assault on self-defense by voting for H.R. 8. The “Hall of Shame” includes Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), Christopher Smith (R-FL) and Fred Upton (R-MI). Representatives Fitzpatrick and Smith also supported indefinitely delaying gun purchases by voting for H.R. 1446.

I know it's late notice but I just opened the email.

Yeah, what could possibly be discriminatory about that?

But that's what you get when you allow your society to be ruled by fear.

We're the Only Ones Recruiting Enough

On Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 1:15 p.m., the NJ Senate Law and Public Safety Committee is scheduled to consider S 568 --legislation that would inject law enforcement into the process of evaluating whether someone has recovered from mental health issues and should be given an expungement so they can receive NJ firearms credentials.  [More]

Please help us to rid the streets of morons, psychopaths, and mental defectives and put them where they belong: On the force.

No Exceptions

Contrary to the beliefs of many politicians, there is no provision within the American Constitution that renders its provisions irrelevant if someone says the words “public health” or “national security” or “COVID-19.” On the contrary, the very reason we have a written constitution is to prevent our freedoms from being evaporated every time something unpleasant or alarming happens. Emboldening the Controllers

They know that if Americans can’t muster the strength of will to organize, rise up, and use the political measures that are short of armed rebellion, then they most assuredly do not possess the strength of will and courage to cross the line to armed rebellion. [More]

Those who would rule are counting on shallow and impulsive low-hanging fruit that has not done and won't do the hard work of using the remarkable system devised and bequeathed by the Founders. They'll be happy to provoke and then exploit the hell out of every ill-thought-out act they can incite the pliable to rush into and f*** up, and then so smear us all.

Danny McCormick looks interesting.

And he makes a great point by presenting the perspective as being one of a right to wear a jacket.

This is what I mean by expecting our representatives to be leaders who don't have to be prodded, cajoled, and begged to do the right thing. As such, I expect them to know the right thing without being told because they share core principles.

I'd like to learn more.

A Matter of Priorities

In the latest of many issues to plague the nation’s seriously flawed system to detect biological attacks, a federal audit reveals it lacks detection equipment in more than half the country and is unable to recognize multiple biological agents that pose threats. [More]

Yeah, well, the government is more interested in "threats" to political class exclusivity to bother with the pesky Preamble.

Besides, do you know how many quid pro quo palms you can grease with $18B of other peoples' money?

With 'Republicans' Like These...

Several Republican Senators Roy Blunt (MO), Richard Burr (NC), Shelley Moore-Capito (WV), Bill Cassidy (LA), Susan Collins (ME), John Cornyn (TX), Joni Ernst (IA), Lindsey Graham (SC), Chuck Grassley (IA), Jim Inhofe (OK), Ron Johnson (WI), James Lankford (OK), Mitch McConnell (KY), Jerry Moran (KS), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Rob Portman (OH), Mitt Romney (UT), Mike Rounds (SD), John Thune (SD), and Thom Tillis (NC) all voted to confirm Garland. [More]

Well, that doesn't bode well for freedom. So much for "pro-gun" creds that got several of these frauds elected. I'll be interested in seeing how many got "A" ratings from NRA, and what their NumbersUSA grades are.

And it looks like he'll be directing  DOJ focus on targets other than the communists occupying "autonomous zones" in American cities. Establishment" GOP support for him means they are counting on a government discrediting campaign against Trump agenda supporters.

At least GOA "scored the final vote in favor of the confirmation of Judge Garland as an anti-gun vote."

Daily Defense Redux

Today’s guest is David Codrea. Topic is felons and gun possession!
My conversation with Armed American Radio's Mark Walters revolved around My recent AmmoLand article, "Some ‘Gun Rights Leaders’ are Endorsing the Absolute Wrong Idea on Fighting Crime." I'm still getting some pushback from proponents who believe me to be unclear on the intent of developing legislation they support because it is being written to apply to violent repeat offenders. I understand that, but it looks like I'll probably have to write a follow-up in the near future to elaborate on why I still think it's a bad idea, regardless.
