Accuracy imperative on pro-gun side as anti-gunners lose credibility

The critique here is that the exchange could have been more clear, not that it was buffoonish, ignorant or dishonest. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner commentary shows a key difference in styles, which  in turn shows a key difference in character.

After All, They Know OUR Names...

What I want to know is, what are the names of the oath-breaking oinkers at the Suffolk County Police Department Pistol License Bureau who are responsible for this?  [Read]

Their faces ought to be on billboards.

Fact and Fantasy

J.R. Vanne has compiled gun control-related quotes and facts into one document. Go give it a look.  [Read]

We're the Only Ones Suspended Enough

Wolford has had several other run-ins with the law while on the Lorain police force. [More]
Which makes me wonder how many other things he's gotten away with...

Yeah, but we can still trust this meathead with a gun in places where you and I would be forbidden. I guess that's the same magic power that results in "reduced charges."

Today's Five-Minute Activism

Good letter. Send it. [Read and do]

I'm going to start making harassing Republican poltroons a hobby.

We need to pick some examples and target them for political extinction as an example to the others.

If we can't get them to vote the right way out of principle, I'll settle for fear.

In addition to printing out and signing the form letter, I added a handwritten postscript:
I'm not kidding -- this form letter aside, your predecessor LaTourette was worthless -- if you don't get off the stick and start showing some leadership, I'll vote for a damn Democrat just to get you out.

A Devastating Graphic

There's absolutely no reason for anyone to have this much ammo. [More]
I like Mike's comment.

I have more on this. Now that this has happened, I'll need to go back through my notes and put something together when I get a chance. [Read]

The Gun Guy

"I am a Jewish, liberal Democrat and a gun guy," he says, "which in the US is a very weird hybrid." [More]
Armed American Radio's Mark Walters rejects the notion that anyone who could politically support gungrabbers is a "gun guy" and so do I.   If liking guns is the only criteria, then Lon Horiuchi ought to be a fricking folk hero.

Leading the Charge

If you sign it, and if the U.S. Senate ratifies the treaty, Texas will lead the charge to have the treaty overturned in court as a violation of the U.S. Constitution. [More]
And if they rule against you...?

We're the Potential Only Ones Preferring Charges Enough

Concerned about the recent shooting deaths of two state prosecutors, a Texas senator says that federal prosecutors should be allowed to carry firearms when working on federal property. [More]
And, of course, none of the anti-gun arguments and insults that would be directed at you or me will apply.

dis·tort verb \di-ˈstȯrt\: To transcribe

Rather than debate me on the merits of this common-sense proposal, the gun lobby has decided to distort remarks I made at a recent forum in Denver to attack me personally. After the forum, opponents of my bill intentionally mischaracterized one phrase from my remarks, spreading half-truths to mobilize their on-line allies. This is what they do and what they have done for decades to distract the public conversation from the critical issue of reducing gun violence. [More
So now quoting you verbatim is distorting your remarks. Cool -- as long as you reserve that power to yourself, you can win every debate that way! And we should probably all forget the pathetic damage control statement that just dug a deeper hole.

Would you call this "tripling down"?

She keeps forgetting the cardinal rule:

Never go full DeGette.

The U.S. factory is located in Accokeek, Maryland, and has been a staple of the local economy for years. [More]
For some reason I immediately flashed on that scene from the first Christoper Reeve "Superman" movie, where Miss Teschmacher tells Lex Luthor "My mother lives in Hackensack" and he looks at his watch, looks her in the eye and subtly shakes his head.

Now it's time to see who in Connecticut wants to deserve our business.

Repeal the Hughes Amendment

There are nearly 20 individual legal arguments, each one absolutely brilliant and rock-solid impenetrable in and of itself, all being combined into one super case on steroids to repeal the Hughes Amendment. For tactical reasons, I can’t go into what the arguments are, but rest assured, each and every one is absolutely devastating to the governments’ case for keeping the ban in place. [More]
Whenever anyone  says "rest assured," my first reaction is to look around nervously for what I missed, and maybe see if I still have my wallet.

Just because an argument is brilliant, rock solid and impenetrable doesn't mean it won't be ignored, bypassed, overruled, deemed inadmissible...

At this point it should be obvious this isn't about what is right, it's about who has power.

Here's what I said back in 2005:
[I]f they accept either Seegars or Parker, I believe the court will not dare say there is no individual rkba. But if they find there is one, it will be so heavily burdened with "reasonable restrictions" as to ensure the status quo. They'll never admit the truth unless someone, that would be us, has enough power to compel them.
Was I wrong?

I'd love to see the Hughes Amendment repealed. And I don't want to be a naysayer and discourage an effort I admittedly know nothing about by people I will presume to be patriotic and sincere.

That said, the road to hellish precedent is paved with good intentions.  I need to know much more about the "tactical reasons" and who is behind this, and so do you. And in fairness, so does anyone kneejerk criticizing and dismissing it.

Sitemeter Blues

Instead of the visit stats, I get a search site with no evident search bar.

This guy says they did not re-register on April 3. A visit to WHOIS says "Pending Renewal or Deletion."

UPDATE: I noticed this weekend it came back up.  I find it interesting that no one in "Authorized Journalismdom" thinks something that impacts so many on the internet is newsworthy.

This Day in History: April 5

Col. William Harden, with Brig. Gen. Francis Marion's consent, began operating between Charleston and Savannah to disrupt British lines in this area that was virtually a sanctuary for the enemy. He led his force of about 100 men down the Pocotaligo Road and ran into Capt. Edward Fenwick with thirty-five SC Dragoons near the Salkehatchie Bridge on April 5th. [More]
