We're the Only Ones Dealing with Medical Issues Enough

Police sealed off a Braintree neighborhood for more than an hour when an armed Boston police captain dealing with “medical issues” barricaded herself in her home.
Huh, The second "Only One" standoff this week.

Perhaps being more trustworthy than the rest of us is too much of a strain...still, I'm glad she was who she was. Otherwise, this could have ended in tragedy.

Like a Virgin

"It's outrageous," Sharon Akabas of the Institute of Human Nutrition at Columbia University, told the New York Daily News. "What's next? Are we going to start taking guns out to some of these remote places and ask them which one they like better?"
That's not a bad idea, there, Sharon.

Then they might be able to keep collectivist tyrants from ruling them.

I remember cheering about Romania at this time of year not so long ago. One of the best Christmas present ever, when Nicolae and Elena got their recommended daily allowance of both lead and justice.

We're the Only Ones Who "May Have Been" Enough

One of the two Indian men arrested for illegally buying mobile phone cards used by the gunmen in the Mumbai attacks was a counterinsurgency police officer who may have been on an undercover mission, security officials said Saturday, demanding his release.
May have been?

That means he may not have been?

Only the "Only Ones" know for sure?

Me, I'd be asking questions about officials so keen on springing him. And if I were him, I'm not so sure I'd want to be released to them.

Now it could be I've got it all wrong and my suspicions about a brave man and his incorruptible commanders are unfounded. But as we continually hear, if you don't have anything to hide, you don't have anything to fear.

We all believe that, right?

Doing the Job "Authorized Journalists" Won't

It will be interesting to see how the Odessa police react to the trap into which they walked. I suppose they could try to press criminal charges of some sort, but if Cooper and company are telling the truth, all they did was engage in perfectly legal activity and wait for the police to misinterpret the situation, probably through the use of illegal search techniques backed by fraudulent claims made to secure a warrant. Under the circumstances, any attempts at retaliation are just going to dig a deeper hole for the local authorities.

BUSTED!

I love it.

A Question, if I May...

While NRA opposes waiting periods, it supported NICS...
Why?

Animal Farm Redux

One day, as the horse was trotting past the farmhouse during the evening meal, he happened to glance inside the dining room window, and what he saw chilled him to his marrow. There on the table was a steaming lump of charred flesh with an apple stuck in it’s mouth. In horror he recognized the lump as Ham, a recent member of the growing number of missing animals.

There's a children's story that sure to please or enrage, depending on who hears it.

We're the Only Ones Providing the Finest Care Enough

Deputies from the Charles County Sheriff's Office had arrived at the house on St. Peters Church Rd. around 7 p.m. to serve legal papers to a resident who no longer lived at that address.

The homeowner said deputies asked her to put her 2-year-old sheep dog, Dixie, inside the house while they sorted things out. The homeowner complied, but her 2-year-old niece pushed the door open a short time later. Dixie came running out, and the deputy shot the dog, according to an account from the homeowner's sister.
I got nothin'. Some "Only Ones" stories just stop me in my tracks.

This Day in History: December 7

Dad got a 21st birthday present in 1941.

He went to Guam.

His older brother went to Guadalcanal.

God bless you, Dad. I can't begin to tell you how profound my love and respect for you are, and how boundless my gratitude is. You and Mom taught me the important stuff.

Happy birthday. See you both soon.

All my love...
