Round Figures

["Guido Sarducci"/Used with Permission]

This was taken at the Scottsdale Gun Club yesterday and it beats prices I've seen at lots of places, providing they even have stock.

There are all kinds of reasons, from the Biden surge, to new buyers, to Covid-related staffing shortages. I also wonder how much of it can be attributed to government contracts getting first dibs. I don't see things getting better and won't be surprised to see them get a lot worse

Far from being about "commonsense gun safety," this situation, combined with a slew of new infringements waiting in the wings, will make comprehensive training and practice prohibitively expensive, endangering all. Figures.

The Shoulders of Giants

For most parents, the demonization of capitalism is the least of it. They say that their children tell them they’re afraid to speak up in class. [More]

Then I have no sympathy for the pussies, too cowardly to impose the power of the purse and boot disrespectful servants. What lesson does folding to oppressors teach both the aggressors and the young ones imprinting off how their fathers and mothers deal with it?

Any adult that ever tried to intimidate one of my cubs would have been invited to try it with me. Especially one of these evil hive insects. I taught my sons to never let themselves be bullied by "authority figures," and that includes on the job-- the worst they can do is fire you, and on a scale of 1 to 10 that hardly registers compared to some of the things humans have endured and overcome.

There is no one-size-fits-all. But sometimes, we need to roar.

And as for “We don’t call them Newton’s laws anymore,” an observation by the great man is in order:

"If I have seen further, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants"

He was one of the most brilliant men who ever lived, yet he gave full, appropriate and humble recognition of those who built the foundation he added to. Compare that to the moral and intellectual dwarfs tearing at that foundation with the intent not to build but to appropriate and tear down, and to stand on the backs of its builders and grind them down with their heels.

We, the heirs of Liberty, stand on the shoulders of giants. Our duty to God, to them, to ourselves, and to our Posterity demands we not let ourselves be cowed by lesser men.

The New Heretics

Instead, some politicians, journalists, and (alas) scientists have engaged in vicious slander of dissident scientists, spreading damaging conspiracy theories, even with open calls for censorship in place of debate. In many cases, eminent scientific voices have been effectively silenced, often with gutter tactics. People who oppose lockdowns have been accused of having blood on their hands, their university positions threatened, with many of our colleagues choosing to stay quiet rather than face the mob. [More]

Tell them they can quit wearing their mask after they get a vaccine. instead of telling them the nanny state’s going to be there for three more years and you’ve got to wear a mask forever.” [More]
Yep. Roar.

From the Department of Non-Crime

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is encouraging the city’s law enforcement to police behavior they believe is hateful, even if it is not criminal. “I assure you, if an NYPD officer calls you or shows up at your door to ask about something you did, that makes people think twice, and we need that,” de Blasio told reporters on Thursday. [More]
