It Was So Good I Went Back for Seconds

My car decided I didn't spend enough of the VCF two days ago and it was time to reacquaint me with the "Check Engine" light. That's why I've been away for the past several hours.

At least this time, because it was afternoon programming, I didn't have to subject myself to what the public is expected to accept as "news," but instead was treated to a virtual hen party where four minority women talked with Tammy Duckworth about how we all need to come together and unify by agreeing that Donald Trump needs to be impeached and white men are the problem. That was followed by several civil cases featuring 15 minutes of fame-seekers ably dispatched by dour-faced Mike Bloomberg magistrate Judge Judy.

Tell me you wouldn't be tempted to reinstall basic cable!

Anyway, bottom line, the work has been derailed for today. Forget the blog, I need to get back to what I was putting together to pay for car repair bills and property taxes. It's all part of the privilege.

Long story short: I have dozens of emails I can't get to and don't need any more, so please have mercy on me and hold off on sending any.

A Bit on the Expansive Side

[W]e are given a tight shot on how easily abusive personalities can radicalize the disillusioned . . . which is entirely relevant at the moment. [More]

Yes, but while Salon clearly intends a Trump/flyover whites comparison, the analogy works better with the left ginning up racial resentments.

That said, "Designate people as a joke for long enough and eventually they'll make it their mission to turn their oppressors into a punchline" does seem applicable.

Flaws aside, I consider The Expanse the best SciFi show out there, and one of the best shows. The thing I find most unbelievable about it is the UN presiding over a planetary society capable of such technical advances, as innovation is ever a byproduct of personal incentive-based freedom, with repressive regimes more generally relying on stolen technology and imitation. But then again, Star Trek had its United Federation of Planets...

Mr. Rogers explains:

Y'know, seeing this latest unfolding plot the day after the feudal lord just sent me my "rent" bill on the property I supposedly "own"--  while being lectured and smeared by those doing the cultural terraforming about how "privileged" and "hateful" I am -- does not put me in the most "equitable" of moods. Especially when I note the moated castles they live in.

On the bright side, our "diversity" scores ought to improve!

What's Good for GM is Good for Red China

In late January, General Motors (GM) said it plans to stop selling vehicles with tailpipe emissions by 2035. That means GM won’t sell any gas- or diesel-powered vehicles, the types of cars that now account for nearly all GM sales and profit. That would require an all-electric fleet, powered off the electrical grid, as with most current electrics, or perhaps through on-board fuel cells powered by hydrogen. While most automakers are developing electric vehicles, GM is the first big one to commit to a full transition. [More]

You don't say:

"China controls the processing of pretty much all the critical minerals, whether it's rare earth, lithium, cobalt or graphite”...

And, of course, Western demand will be what is blamed for the exploitation of Africans, where the material is mined, kind of like the whole "blood diamonds" brouhaha, which has essentially given globalist elites control of restricting supply sources and adding "compliance" costs. So count on Western consumers being the ones funding the resultant rare earth "reparations" wealth transfers while China gets a pass akin to their skirting the carbon credits tab for "climate change."

And our economic fascist "capitalists" are happy to sell the rope, or short sell it as the case may be.

As an aside, in terms of the state of electric cars today, I've wondered why, instead of spending hours charging one, you couldn't drive to a station and have batteries swapped out. Kind of like we used to do with VHS tapes at the video store, or propane tanks where you trade in empties. Pull in, swipe your card or pay the cashier, and what substitutes for the "pump" auto-extracts the old battery and replaces it with a new one that then routes to a charging station to be made available to a later vehicle. Meanwhile, the driver is fully charged, in and out in minutes. Aside from there being no standard, like in the VHS/Beta wars ...
