Much Ado about What, Exactly?

"You have to ask, 'Are the militias primed for violence?'" [More]
If they were I think we'd have seen a lot more than we have instead of just the occasional hyped up headline where provocatuers get low-hanging fruit to agree to plan something stupid.

When you "Think Progress," think Opposite Day.

'Rally in Tally' Redux

We talked about it here.

The man with the boy is Luis Valdes, a full time police officer who is not an "Only One" but who is instead very active in the fight. If all gun owners were like this, the fight would have been won already -- at least for our time.

Here's his archive over at TTAG.

Feelings, Nothing More than Feelings

Exactly the Way to Handle This Guy

“It’s a bunch of rhetoric. I don’t pay much attention to it, to tell you the truth. I wasn’t there, and I don’t really care what Al Sharpton has to say,” the sheriff said. “Go back to New York; mind your own business.” [More]
Nothing makes attention whores rage more than not paying attention to them and even going a step further -- acting like they're beneath your notice.

I've also found that technique has worked on a few occasions with dogs that were acting all Alpha, but them I made friends with after establishing  expectations, boundaries and place in the food chain.

Q & A

Q [View]
and
Q [View]

A, on the other hand, takes a different approach.

I really have not been following either all that closely, and not knowing who is behind the efforts makes assigning credibility all the more problematic.  That said, Q seems to espouse principles I agree with, and A evokes nothing so much as "Ye shall know them by their fruits."

Papal Bull

Two U.S. Catholic professors who authored what many consider to be a rigorous defense of Catholic teaching on capital punishment say that Pope Francis’ new teaching on the subject appears to be “contradicting scripture, tradition, and all previous popes.” And, he may be “committing a doctrinal error.” [More]
"May be"?

I've given up on illusions that the guy is merely wrong.

I will confess I have mixed feelings on the matter -- not because I feel sorry for monsters, but because any power the state can use against one person it can use against me and mine, and the folks in charge just don't impress me as being all that trustworthy with ultimate power.

A Question of Character

A defined American character—devotion to republican principles, republican virtue, the habits and manners of free citizens, self-reliance—would in that case be impermissibly exclusive, and thus impermissibly American. [More]
Only acceptable diversity is allowed.

Lodi Teen Kicked Out Of Class Over NRA Shirt [More]
Ha! Their motto is "Lead by example."

It figures an Opposite Day "progressive male" history teacher would do this. And it figures the story wouldn't name him.

We're the Only Ones Untouchable Enough

The Department of Justice says it will not prosecute an FBI special agent after an investigation determined that the agent violated several standards of FBI policy and conduct, including lying to the bureau and withholding "information related to a state criminal investigation from a local police department." [More]
Glad to know obstruction of justice, lying to law enforcement and corruption are not prosecutable.

Oh, wait -- you mean we all couldn't get away with that?
