Of Course You Realize This Means War

Ban assault weapons, buy them back, go after resisters [More]
No. Your move.

So, Rep. Swalwell, you miserable domestic enemy, you bloodthirsty fool...

You seem to think the only costs will be measured in dollars...?  Or that you can make it personal and it won't get personal...?

Thank You for Choosing Kabuki Air

Police say a fight between three Worldwide Flight Services employees, who are contracted by Frontier Airlines to clean planes, led to the fatal stabbing. [More]
Funny-- for some reason they don't seem to want to release any identifying information.

But see, Mom? I told you the measures were for your own safety.

Hawaii "Multiburst Trigger Activator" Ban Bill Passes House and Senate Unanimously

Per George Pace:
They (both houses) passed it unanimously. Even the 5 "Republicans" (46 Demorats) in the House (Senate is 100% Demorats) voted for it. (The House "Republican" "minority leader" who is running for governor has voted with Demorats 85% of the time in her legislative history.)
Here's the bill.

Point/Counterpoint

From the AP:
The amendment adopted in the Senate guts a major part of Republican Gov. Doug Ducey’s school safety plan.
From AzCDL:
In sum, while we do believe the bill is no longer the egregious threat to our liberties that it started as, it still needs work before we can consider it to be a positive contribution to the public policy of our great state.

The Cloak of Anonymity

The Deep State Weaponizes Vetting of Trump Appointees - Unaccountable Pentagon officials block a security clearance for a would-be White House aide. [More]
Well if you keep referring to them as "officials" without naming names, they'll never be accountable.

Because What's Yours is Theirs

Immigrant rights protesters block streets in downtown Grand Rapids [More]
Funny... I don't see the words "illegal" or "criminal" anywhere in this "report."  I do see "under-documented," which is certainly creative.

"Whose streets? Our streets!" certainly endears them to me.

Just the Way White Privileged Gun-Grabbers Like It

Siwatu-Salama Ra used a legally purchased firearm to protect her family. She was sentenced to 2 years in prison. [More]
Here's a question they'll never directly answer:

Did displaying a gun discourage further violence? Yes or no?

Alternatively: What would you be able to do about an immediate threat to your child?

My Latest Oath Keepers Piece

I've reverted my announcement here to draft until such time as they figure out what's going on with their website.

I may have to prep the whole thing all over again from my Word draft, but it makes no sense to expend more effort until we're sure it won't disappear again.

A Second Amendment Guy

I’m a Second Amendment guy, but no one needs a gun that just begs the owner to start shooting people. [More]
It sounds like "conservative" Ben Stein has issues with voices in his head.

It's not the first time he's made that claim.

Inigo remains unconvinced.

A Known Danger or Just a Reddit Loudmouth?

UCF student who idolized mass shooters online can buy guns, judge decides [More]
The law still applies. As does due process.

It sounds like he's been professionally examined and determined to be more a douche than a threat. That may be wrong, but the bar for stripping rights must be high lest we all have to live with setting it low.

Conclusive proof of multiple shooters firing simultaneously at Route 91 Harvest Music Festival [More]
I don't have enough knowledge on this to say it's conclusive, but it is interesting.

What's needed is an open investigation.  With Paddock no longer alive to prosecute, why the need for such secrecy unless there's something to this?

And that, of course, opens the door to "conspiracy theory" rebuttals, which it appears some are counting on -- and the loopier the better to deflect and discredit the ones that aren't.

The bastards are using this to impose a new executive power grab and  Intolerable Act with "bump stocks" as the scapegoat du jour.

Taken by Stormy

Stormy Daniels sues Trump for defamation over 'con job' tweet - She says she was harmed by a Trump tweet that accused her of 'a con job' [More]
What kind of job wouldn't it be defamatory to accuse her of?

This is actually quite a chilling development -- if public figures can sue over something like this, then will calling some prominent gun-grabber a liar produce similar results?

Commonsense Nazgûl Control

This should concern Democrats as well as Republicans.  [More]
Why?

They know they don't have to play by any rules.

I do like the injunction review idea.

I like judicial impeachment even better.

They're not saying.

Eventually, they learned members of the U.S. Armed Forces were training in secret for three nights. So CBS2 went to both local and state police to find out why the residents weren’t informed. [More]
