Deadstreaming

Not only does (see above) shooting the shooter in the first few seconds cut down on the number of victims, the threat of being shot will strongly dissuade copy-cats because a livestream of a terrorist being taken out in 10 seconds and then dying painfully sends a very different message to a livestream where the terrorist can act with impunity for minutes. Republicans for Citizen Disarmament

However, the House vote was not split evenly down party lines, with prominent Republicans in the caucus voting against the bill, while a handful of Democrats voted in favor of it. Once campus carry reached the Senate, the Judiciary Committee voted 9-7 to reject reporting the bill to the Senate floor.
Again, the vote was not totally split along party lines, as two Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee — Sen. Charles Clements of Wetzel County and Sen. Ryan Weld of Brooke County — joined Democrats in voting against the bill. [More]
So who are the House traitors? Names, please.

Don't be a guncuck. There is no excuse for such fundamental betrayal.

Anyone who votes for any of these again deserves his chains.

A Bad Character Reference

To the extent that the Gun Culture 2.0 instills in people a willingness to kill, it can be harmful to their character. [More]
And what about the character of someone who is not willing to kill?

Rational people don't dehumanize their enemies. Their enemies do that all by themselves, by dehumanizing them and those they love.
The morally virtuous person who, as a last resort, kills an assailant in self-defense (or in defense of another person) may not be guilty of a morally unjust act. Nevertheless, if that person has good character, is empathetic, compassionate, and loving, she “will feel regret at having been the agent of killing.”
I don't know, because thank God, I have never been put to that test. My experience is one size does not fit all, it depends on the circumstances, and some people, through their actions, don't merit another thought.

It also seems "Physician heal thyself" and Matthew 7:3-5 might have some application here.

Our leaders in the 1920s understood this and took steps to halt the migrations until those who had come could be assimilated, and, in a word, Americanized. It worked. By 1960, we were a united people. Then, without the people’s consent, the great experiment began. [More]
