I Don't Cede Either Point

No one claims that getting a driver’s license infringes on their right to drive a car. There is no “God-given” right or “constitutional” right to drive a car without a license. And despite gun lobbyists’ claims to the contrary, there is no God-given or constitutional right to carry a concealed gun in public without a permit or training. [More]

I do.

Yes, there is.

And the Constitution doesn't define our rights.

Go impose your religious beliefs on someone else.

'Free' Reign

Yet in recent years, libertarians increasingly seem less concerned with how their policies might actually impact people. Convinced that markets are virtually always the best way to approach any issue, they have allied with many of the same forces – monopoly capital, anti-suburban zealots and the tech oligarchy – which are systematically undermining the popular rationale for market capitalism. [More]

"Woke" corporate cancel culture has shown there is such a thing as "market tyranny," including the "perfect" workaround to government censorship restraints.

It Sounds Like They Deserved Each Other

Melinda also lifted the lid on how she felt the trust in her marriage was broken by Bill's affair with an employee. He previously admitted having an affair with an unnamed woman who worked for Microsoft in 2000. [More]

Yeah, sleeping with the boss to get ahead is disgusting!

And it sounds like Bill has been a longtime proponent of giving young people the jab.

In case you haven't been following this issue - the ATF is now rejecting ALL Form 1 silencer applications unless you supply them with a schematic and photos of the materials you plan to use to build the silencer you are not yet approved to build.

Anybody else noticing an in-your-face disregard on the part of our "rulers" for the Preamble, that is, the very reason stated right up front to justify delegation of powers and consent of the governed?

Time for Some Commonsense Garden Claw Safety Laws

The suspect then turned and advanced on the deputies while swinging the garden claw, which had spikes on the end of it, the Sheriff’s Department stated. The claw was said to be about 3 feet long. [More]

So it was an assault garden claw? And just for consistency, how come the media isn't referring to this as another garden claw violence-related death?

Popular Opinion

When you’re as unpopular as they are it makes sense – you can’t admit reality, it’s too depressing, so you create a new one in your head. [More]

Being wrong is not the same as being unpopular. Ignore that at our peril.

Republican voters must not be lulled into overconfidence and I'm still waiting for the "leadership" to do something spectacularly bone-headed and demoralizing.

He's a 15-year veteran, so he knows what can be gotten away with. Wonder what would happen if a "civilian" assaulted one of "New York's Finest"...?

Reverting to Childhood

The state contends it should have exclusive authority to regulate firearms within its borders. But the MUS Board of Regents “has come to this court with the claim that they are the better entity to regulate bearing arms by individuals while on university campuses,” the amicus brief states. The disagreement is likened to “competing relatives seeking guardianship over a child unable to exercise rights in their own name” in the brief. [More]

So legal incompetents can vote? Oh, yeah, I guess they can.

I don't suppose when they get all outraged and demand changes to university policy or curricula, or the banning of speakers that trigger tantrums, they can be told that children should be seen and not heard, and appropriately disciplined by the adults for unacceptable behavior?

I don't suppose treating young adults like adults, with adult expectations -- and adult repercussions -- is on the table?

Speaking of Delusional...

They will exert significant influence over group standards of conduct... [More]

That's enough for me. Although I suspect "anything goes" in the Darkverse, or will, for those who would rather be Jack the Ripper than Jack the Giant Killer.

Anybody getting a "Ye shall be as gods" vibe out of this, and not just for Zuckerberg? Anybody seeing any problems with developing real-life addictions and how people who need another fix can be controlled? Sounds like that'll provoke demand for responsive regulatory laws and enforcers and everything that comes with that.

What about people who don't want to come back? What about developing psychoses? What about mindhackers and malware? Just rush into this with no impact studies?
