Who Didn't See This Coming?

U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar ruled that the administration's new policy of cutting off asylum to migrants who enter the country illegally appears to run afoul of U.S. law that specifically allows them to do so. [More]

Recognizing the dangers of mob rule, our Bill of Rights defined some of the areas where the individual would be immune to the will of the collective. [More]
Two of us, one of you. Now bend over.

What's the matter, don't you believe in democracy?

Your Rights are What We Say They Are

Teachers will not be carrying guns in Illinois schools.  The Illinois Association of School Boards voted down on that proposal. The measure split the state along its urban and rural fault lines.[More]
If this isn't an argument for the popular vote, I don't know what is.

Murder rate soars in Venezuela, forcing population to take extreme precautions to stay alive amid food and medicine shortages [More]
Say gang, I've got a swell idea! Why not try socialism and a monopoly of violence here as well?

The Best The GOP Could Do?

Former state Del. May wins Republican primary to replace Wexton in Virginia Senate [More]
You know, the "staunch Anti-Gun Republican." What a spit in the face by Republicans to a consituency they owe whatever positions they haven't squandered through betrayals to.

The first debate for the January special election is online.

Any gun owner who votes for Joe May will be telling the Republicans they can foist whatever gun-grabber they want with no repercussions. They will be guaranteeing more of the most dangerous kinds of enemies -- those from within.

There's not even the illusion of choice here.

And watch when he loses this will be presented as a rejection of "Trumpism."

Some Day...

Perhaps the day will come when the people will determine that the best way to curb gun violence is to cull the Second Amendment from the Constitution.  [More]
What, the day forceful defiance or abject surrender is inevitable?

Offering "reasonable restictions" sops on infringements and prior restraints does not help, but it does seem to fit a larger NRO pattern that's been around since its founder counseled preemptive surrender.

It Depends on How You Phrase It

Those who insist that mental illness has no connection to violence, and those who argue that the mentally ill should be locked up, are both wrong, experts say. [More]
The ones that are wrong are those who insist one size fits all. Of course there can be connections. And custodians can take different forms as appropriate.

Lest He Be Judged

Ex-Judge Accused of Killing Wife 4 Years After Brutally Assaulting Her [More]
Funny, the  “smoke grenades, semi-automatic rifles, a sword, a bulletproof vest and more than 2,500 rounds of ammunition” he had at the time of his first arrest, seeing as how he was District Director for Stephanie Tubbs Jones, who was "passionate about the need for gun control legislation. She has cosponsored several initiatives seeking to make guns safer, to restrict the sale of weapons through loopholes to existing laws, and to limit the types of guns available for purchase."

While he's presumed innocent in  his wife's murder, one thing we know he's guilty of is being a damned hypocrite and coward. There are plenty of such defects with "authority" to decide your legal fate.

NRA Members, No Doubt

What ... not even descriptions for public safety...?

Sounds like gang action to me. So leave it to the antis to add it to the "mass shootings" tally.

A concealed carry licensee in Illinois shall not knowingly carry a concealed firearm on or into ... A public or private hospital or hospital affiliate, mental health facility, or nursing home...

I guess technically it wasn't concealed when he brought it inside...

What's curious is with all the AP updates, they still have not identified the "gunman." Since they undoubtedly know, a fair question would be "Why?"

We're the Only Ones Really Into Our Work Enough

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy assigned to handle sensitive sex abuse crimes, often involving vulnerable minors, has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl in a case he was investigating. [More]
On the plus side, as a subject matter expert he should have no problem with the perpetual quandary that perplexes so many in his professsion.
