Considering the Source

Every once in a while I like to browse around the Internet to see whether or not all this effort is at least getting dispersed, and every once in a while I learn something about that dispersal I didn't know.

I was aware that many of my GUNS Magazine articles are for sale at Amazon.com, even though it looks like no one is buying them--that's no surprise as I link to past columns at the magazine's site each month here for free.

Anyway, I just had a first. My name and work turned up in a place I had no idea they had wandered into: Larry Elder cited me in Showdown: Confronting Bias, Lies, and the Special Interests that Divide America. More specifically, he cited my KABA expose on actor Mark Wahlberg (be sure to visit the Pokey Poke Picture Gallery at the end).

"Yawn," you might say, but I've never been cited as a book source before, so to get endnoted by a nationally syndicated radio host, columnist and New York Times bestselling author is a big deal for me. Naturally, I had to run right out and buy a copy. (Writing isn't supposed to work this way. It's not supposed to cost me money.)

Still, I haven't felt this famous since some musically retarded college buddies and I appeared on Houlihan and Big Chuck's "New Talent Time" a lifetime ago...

I don't know how famous you are, but I am sure your fame is not commensurate with your ability to present the wisdom of free men.

My wish for you is that your name becomes a household item found everywhere free men and those that would be free congregate. (despite your one glaring inconsistency) [I tried, really, I did, I just couldn't help myself] forgive me? :)

Oh yeah, one more thing. Congratulations you have earned respect, I am not surprised that erudite men cite you.

Congratulations!

You now have proof, or at least evidence, that at least at one time, in one place, you were right!

On a somewhat similar note I have a little side-line business for which I did a quick, somewhat whimsical card. A friend came back from a conference and told me that my card was being used as an example in a seminar on how to do business cards right by someone very famous (in that field) that I'd never had any contact with. His take on my card, btw, was that was a perfect example of something that could be either great or horrible, depending on how both you and the customer took it. Since I intended it in part to weed out folks I don't want to deal with it works for me.

Keep up your good work and someday the 'big names' will be crowing when you quote them.

Just wanted to add my congratulations as well. I would be thrilled if such a thing happened to me.

Very cool indeed! Oh, and the link you put up doesn't work. I think it's .com instead of .org. No biggy, I figured it out.
