My girlfriend would maybe warn once, depending on the circumstance. And then the perp would have a .357 or .44 Magnum entry wound. And, a much larger diameter exit wound in their skull.
Generally all it takes is one of her 'looks', and any potential perp. moves on to greener (and safer) pasture.She's has one of those 'don't even think about it' type looks. And is very capable of backing it up. There would be a lot less Brian's walking around if more were like her.
