The guy's in Boise, making untold profits off a fan base that includes untold thousands of gun owners and he can't be bothered?
Ryan has been trying to work with "his people," so he knows about the situation at Red's Trading Post. Evidently he doesn't want to involve his name in the controversy. Because if he wanted to, he could point Ryan out in the audience.
Ryan says "the positive side is I still get to see Ted in concert."
If it was me, I wouldn't go.

That's about right. Ted has enough time to cuddle up around the campfire with the likes of Zumbo but he won't associate with those fighting for their livelihood and Rights. Why does that not surprise me.

Whoa,fellas. Hold up a minute. We may not be being fair to Nugent. You would be surprised how many times underlings take it upon themselves to protect their bosses from information, requests, reality, and other people.
It is not just possibel, but likely talking to "Nugent's people"
is as far as the communication went. Nugent may not even be aware that Ryan has asked for his help.
Until we know whether or not Nugent personally knows of the request we don't know that any part of the "too busy" meme is his. It is possible that if he were aware the answers would have been different.
Perhaps if enough links or even a visit to his website were to occur he would become aware of the request and act at his own volition. We really do not know if his hired help informed him of the situation.
As I said I have had some experience with this. I once told an Army general he didn't appear to be nearly as stupid as his staff thought he was. He asked what I meant. I explained the situation and he said I had done the right thing. Then he said "That is what makes this job so tough. Everybody thinks they must protect you from the truth. It is hard to find out what is really going on when they do that. That means if we aren't careful we don't get to do anything about a problem until it is a complete FUBAR."
I guess that would be a positive for some people. I would have to be paid to go to one of his concerts. Four figures, at least.

With all due respect I'd expect the NRA "elite" to be well aware of Mr. Horsley's continued persecution. And that they'd be busting their buttons to provide him offers of assistance even if that assistance is only a face to face/Shoulder to Shoulder show of support with him. After all, Mr. Horsley has been on the NRA News program twice so it's not as if this is an unknown issue. But as far as I have read (and I could have very well missed something) the NRA News gigs are all Red's has gotten out of them. Little enough support for someone in Mr Horsley's position.
As far as visiting Ted's web presence, I haven't been there since the Zumbo Debacle when it was made clear by The Man himself that those who weren't members of the mighty NRA weren't welcome.
So please pardon me for saying that BOHICA, not FUBAR, would be a better description of Ted's (and the NRA's) attitude towards Red's Trading Post's problems with BATFU. I'd like to think I'm incorrect, that because I'm not privy to the all the machinations going on in the legal battle I don't have the complete picture. But I've yet to see anything that indicates otherwise.

I've just navigated over here after reading the article both at David Codrea's "War on Guns" 'blog and at Ryan Horsley's as well.
YOUR SCHEDULE WON'T ALLOW YOU TO TAKE TEN MINUTES TO HELP SUPPORT A CITIZEN AGAINST AN OVERREACHING GOVERNMENT AGENCY??!!??

Your access to the public is as a Second Amendment champion these days. Yeah, you can still pack them in for a concert, but ask Joe Sixpack who you are, and no later than third place (after 'Motor City Madman' and 'Cat Scratch Fever') comes Gun Advocate. You don't really think it was your superior command of prosody that got you that guest editorial in the WSJ, do you? Guitars and Guns is what got you that gig.
I don't live anywhere near Idaho, yet I am trying to gather some money together to buy one of Ryan's guns through GunBroker, because that's what I can do to support him and his fight against the BATFE. What with bills and other impingements of Reality in my life, it probably won't happen, but I'm still trying, because it's the right thing to do.
If all I had to do was to pose my skinny guitar shredding ass next to him for ten minutes for a photo-op, don't you think that's the least I could do?

CP, you make a very good case. I had forgotten about him being on the NRA board. Further, as commented by anon I didn't know he didn't welcome non-NRA members at his website.
I believe you have the superior argument. I stand enlightened.
