Holy crap! I just watched one of those shows about when circus animals turn on their handlers, and after reading this article it's pretty scary to think that one day one of my guns might suddenly and unexpectedly turn on me in the same way! If a gun can suddenly go bad in the hands of a trained expert, what kind of chance can the rest of us have when our firearms decide to go rogue?

If you avoid spinning miniguns whilst looking down the barrels you are pretty safe as to chances of blowing your face off. Other report I read said it took half his head off. He was trying to check a jam by looking in the barrels for where the jam was at the muzzle end while somebody spud it manually...Darwin wins?
Nary a comment on SF Gate about the obvious "negligent discharge" - the "authorized journalist" claims that it "discharged" on its own.
If it was a muzzleloader shoot, and the victim had put a match to the nipple and looked down the barrel of a rifle that had misfired to see if it was loaded, woud the result be any different?
