Open Message to Ron Paul Campaign

I just submitted the following to the Ron Paul campaign via their contact form:
The Bush DOJ just filed an amicus brief on behalf of the Distict in the Heller case.

It is imperative that Dr. Paul issue an immediate and unequivocal statement condemning this move and detailing what he would do if he were president.

This is a chance to get immediate attention from gun owners and once again set Dr Paul apart from the pack.

Don't let Fred Thompson beat you to the punch on this. Get this to the attention of campaign decision makers now.

I know you people reading these are volunteers. Trust me, this is huge. Go right now and get this into the hands of someone who can do something with it.

Now what I'm hoping is that those of you in the Thompson and Mike Huckabee camps will actually take exception to this and do the same. We need all the political pressure we can muster, and it really is past time to separate the talkers from the doers.

Let's race.

I'm hoping Paul supporters will--right now--click on the contact form link and tell the campaign to get moving on this without delay. And spread the word.

My request, sent via the official contact form:

As posted below and elsewhere, the US federal government has voiced its support in the Heller v DC Supreme Court case... in favor of DC! The establishment has flat-out stated that it supports disarmament of peaceable, law-abiding US citizens!

Dr. Paul, please lend your voice to draw attention to this outrage, and once again set yourself apart as the only candidate who knows and follows the supreme law of the land: the US Constitution!

Exception taken and message sent to Senator Thompson.

We may be in different camps on who to vote for (in a way. If Thompson isn't the GOP nominee, Paul will get my vote) but we're on the same page as far as applying pressure.

Here is my message:
The Department of Justice, on Friday afternoon, submitted a Friend of the Court brief to the Supreme Court in the case of Heller vs. D.C. In this brief, the DOJ urges the Court to rule in favor of D.C. while still deciding that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. In this way, the ruling would not threaten any federal gun laws. This is an absurdist reading of the Second Amendment because, on the one hand, it says that individuals DO have a right to keep and bear arms, but on the other hand it says that banning ownership of handguns, even in one's own home, is not "infringement".

Dr. Paul has an outstanding opportunity here to make an unequivocal statement about his views on the Heller Case and defend the Second Amendment, the Bill of Rights, and the U.S. Constitution. Millions of freedom-loving Americans are distressed over the DOJ position and would like to hear Dr. Paul's views on this.

I sent a copy to the Paul campaign.

BTW, FEMA visited my blog (http://freedomjoyadventure.blogspot.com) recently, also.

Keep up the good work!

What I sent:
"Subject: Second Amendment: DC v Heller
It has come to my attention that the DoJ has issued an amicus brief in the case of DC v Heller -- in favor of DC.
The current administration's position appears to be that it is acceptable to disarm "the people".

For Dr. Paul to continue to receive my support it is imperative that he denounce this position and state the position that would be held by a Paul administration.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter."

Reply from "Campaign Committee":
"Robert,

Ron Paul is the strongest candidate on the 2nd amendment hands down! You can rest assured Ron will denounce this!!

Sincerely,

Stephen
Ron Paul 2008 PCC"

I could not find anything on their web site about it yet. Their reply came two days after I posted the request on their site.
