Four people were shot to death in Chicago in less than four hours in an unusually violent start to the weekend -- and at least 15 more were wounded.
The warm weather Friday evening and Saturday morning may have contributed to the violence, authorities said...
So I don't get it--what's to blame: guns or global warming? Perhaps we need to mandate lower carbon-emitting firearms...?
Y'know, I read once that rapes increase during spikes in ice cream sales...
Always glad to see the ubiquitous reference to the "AK-47 assault-style weapon." No "Authorized Journalist" hysterics would be complete without it.
That Boss Daley gun control sure is working out for them, isn't it? And I'd say it's time for Snuffy Pfleger to mount another crusade against the people who didn't do it, wouldn't you?
One thing does confuse me, though: I thought a spate was three...
UPDATE: It looks even worse. Fine weather for a blood dance we're havin'...

Yessir, that Chicago gun ban is really working to provide a safe environ, ent. If you want to kill someone, get them to move to Chicago where they will be helpless, then you can gun them down with Daley's blessings and no risk to yourself, assuming of course you're a criminal.
If you are a good law abiding citizen be prepared to go to jail if you are not helpless.
Could Daley be taking "contributions" from the criminal element? Just asking.
It really is about the warm spell.
Certain demographic groups tend to like to sit on the porch, congregate on corners, etc. Take a ride through one of these neighborhoods (if you dare) and you'll see.
Coincidentally, they also are the group statistically most likely to shoot one another.
Combine the first warm spell of the spring -- with all that pent-up porch-sitting to catch up on -- with an equal amount of pent-up desire to "buss a cap inna mutha-****er" and... well...
You have what General Custer would have called a "target-rich environment" and this is the result.
On the bright side, each shooting will require revenge, so...

There is an excellent web site called "second city cop" http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/
It is written by and commented on by many Chicago police officers. It's fascinating and frightening at the same time. They predict an absolute bloodbath in Chicago this summer. Things here are just crazy.
David, did you take a read at the above link?
I noticed one interesting comment for ya...
The Supt. is not a sworn police officer, yet he purchased a handgun
from a north shore gun store and presented an authorization for police officer purchase signed by himself. How can he register the weapon, not being a sworn officer, has he been trained by the C.P.D. range staff, or even the I.S.P. if he carries as retired ? In either case that form he handed in to purchase was a rule 14 violation.
