A Bit 'o the Blarney

Gardai have smashed a guns-for-sale racket in which suspected former members of the Provisional IRA supplied firearms to a drug trafficking gang in north Dublin.

Officers believe the suppliers were linked more recently with the dissident republican group, the Continuity IRA, but were also heavily involved in criminal activities.
Oh, be off with ye, then.

Everybody knows the IRA disarmed.

Next you'll be tellin' us ye heard it from the wee people.

It's funny how when there's ever any trouble over here since the so-called Peace Process, that it's always blamed on dissidents or former terrorists. Even when, in Parliament, evidence of continued terrorist activity is shown to take place (training, recruiting, spying, etc), the British government shrugs and announces "but they're still committed to peace".

Surrendering to terrorist demands stopped the overt violence (the crime continues apace) and the government is terrified of doing anything to upset that apple cart.
