A New York Volunteer

A Long Island man who reported his gun missing has been arrested after police found it and said he'd owned it illegally.
See, this is why we need laws requiring people to report stolen guns--so we can bypass that pesky Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination.

i can just see this guy walking out of the police station to be met with a journalist intending to interview him and saying, "i for one welcome our new gun-registering overlords!"

I guess you need to find out if you have an illegal weapon before you report it stolen. If you bought it maybe "hot" then maybe you'd best let well enough alone.

What the article does not tell you is why it was illegal for him to own. Was it just more unrighteous gun legislation meant to restrict firearm ownership among law abiding citizens?
