A Temporary Stopgap

Peyton said even an increase in the number of police officers would only be a temporary stopgap and residents need to band together around community programs designed to fight this culture of crime.
What, you mean like a citizen militia?

They mean unarmed but for cell phones to go on the front lines and be the eyes and ears of police.
The cells are preprogramed with the phone number to Dunkin' Donuts.

yeah, THEIR community rat-out-your-neighbor programs.

so they can point to THEIR statistics and get more funding.

all the while ignoring what is actually happening in the neighborhood. because it's science! so you don't have to pay attention! what a great new way to perpetuate classism and racism! it's like we're not even responsible to the community we protect and serve anymore! can you tell that i am so excited
