Elizabeth Pittenger knew that if a mugger points a gun at you, you should give him whatever he wants.Really? What if what he wants is to shoot you? Which , apparently, is what he wanted, because he did.
Fortunately, Ms. Pittenger resisted, proving a moving target is harder to hit.
Hopefully, she will come away from this realizing a person aware of their surroundings is harder to target in the first place. It would also be nice to think the lesson will sink in that having the means of defense and the training and will to use it is...

How inconsiderate of you. You assume that this fine, upstanding gentleman can read, and further, can read english. Shouldn't these signs be in spanish, aztec, greek, chinese, and swahili (for those that can see, for those that can't, we need loudspeakers that read the law to you...) so that this poor man stands a chance?

WTF is wrong with these people? She lived, didn't she? That would tell me she made the correct judgement about what to do.
C'mon Jayne, you know what's wrong with them. They would rather you be killed by a criminal than to have the means to also defend yourself from their abuse of power.
Having said that, couldn't that statement be more accurately descriptive stated thusly:
" Compliance overcame judgment when the victim of the attack chose to remain defenseless rather than exercise her right to self defense and the tools thereof, notwithstanding the edicts of those who would rather she die than be non-dependent."
Don't expect to see that soon.
