The U.S. military expects to have 20,000 uniformed troops inside the United States by 2011 trained to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear terrorist attack or other domestic catastrophe, according to Pentagon officials.I can't help but wonder what kind of paranoid fool/disloyal American would even worry about that. Besides, if you really want to help, just go about your business and muster on over to the mall.

Fine, on the face of it. Screw up and misuse them and there ain't nowhere near enough of them. And that's even if you could get them to obey such orders, which is problematic for them at the very least.
One of the problems the Obamanoids are going to run up against if they really intend to seize power by "majority rule" tyranny is the same thing that keeps every tin-pot third world dictator tossing and turning in his bed at night:

I see these troops as the first installment of armed insurance to protect criminals.
Here's the big problem for the elitist elite. They don't know what we know. We know that if this country goes down the Marxist toilet there's no America to come and save the people like say in Europe when Hitler was in power. The elitist haven't come to understand if this country splits and splits hard that split will also be in the rank and file of their hired guns. If they start losing, they don't have anyone to count on to come and save them. If they bring in the blue hats the people will no longer be split. They will be united against the invading forces.
So let them bring in 20,000 and more to make themselves feel safe. As they feel safe they will, without question do the unthinkable and the stage is set. Not something I want to see happen but I don't see the train turning around on one set of tracks.

I've already started to see this circulating around in regards to this story.
I don't know. Seems better to have 20,000 soldiers with a defined mission than 20,000 Homeland Security agents looking for something to do every day.

it's not "fine on the face of it." Not at all. Under our Constitution it is the militia of the several states (us) that are to be the "home guard" not the standing army. It is we, as the militia of our respective states, who are to suppress insurrections (including by politicians), repel invasions, and deal with any friggin terrorists.
Heck, even the National Guard is closer to the original intent, and safer to have doing such work.
But here, it will be a standing Army, and guardsmen forced to serve as part of that standing army, outside their own state, who will be sent in.
This is akin to the Roman Legions crossing the Rubicon.
No governor of any state will have any say in what these troops do. And the troops who step into a state to do "peacekeeping" will most likely not be from that state, so you could wind up with a bunch of Obamabots from Chicago or New York patrolling the streets of small town Alabama or Montana, and under command of an officer corps that has been purged of any resisters.
And just what do you think these troops have been doing in Iraq and Afghanistan? Kicking down doors, searching without warrant, disarming people, and manning roadblocks.
What makes you think they won't do the same here? Remember Katrina?
I sure hope Mike is right, that some at least will not "just follow orders" but we should prepare for the worst while hoping for the best.
There was a large showing of National Guard in full battle-rattle in downtown Richmond, VA, Sunday around noon, I hear. On the steps of a church. The park across the street was cordoned off by police. There was some kind of function letting out of the theater on the corner. Don't know what it was or what they were afraid of, but I am not intimidated.
They like their simulations and tests and drills. Some of us don't. They have those big bases and mock towns to play with. Involving people who don't want to be involved could turn out to be very realistic training for urban warfare. Very realistic.
Seems like another bigwig mall-ninja plan to take away our civil liberties one by one.

As an elected official for my City, i will be in perfect position to help my constituents rebel against an invasion of standing soldiers with my city militia. I would like to think that other elected officials would also resist as well.

OK - let me see if I understand this, since I am the slow-witted one.
Obongo wants a civilian security force equal in size to the military. My mind sees the word, Brownshirts.
The US military is in the final stages of a program that has gone on for over a year already, organizing a force called NorthCom, specifically to use military forces within the United States. I think of the letters, SS.
And Obongo has made clear that he and his ilk want to disarm the hoi polloi so that the only ones in our society allowed to be armed will be the Brownshirts and the SS.
Now - are there still people who think that they will be allowed to sit this one out and say, Hey guys, just leave me alone, I'm neutral.??
