Was it written by the same reporter who elsewhere refereed to a semi-automatic revolver?
I find the "automatic weapons" quote suspicious, since the main stream media doesn't know (or refuses to know) the difference between semiauto and full auto. That being said, if this was gang bangers with submachine guns, I doubt they have any training or ability to control these notoriously hard-to-control weapons, and wasted most of their ammo on the sky the way I did the first time I shot a full auto firearm.
