A Man of Influence

The NYPD and other security professionals are not only capable of meeting those needs; they are the only ones who should be meeting them. [More]
Interesting that he chose that term.

Brad Hirschfeld, you're a fool. History has taught you nothing.

No wonder he's been "named as one of the nation’s 50 most influential rabbis in Newsweek, and one of the top 30 'Preachers and Teachers' by Beliefnet.com."

[...] Rabbi's against self defense [...]

Un-PC cartooning, spoken here. Yeah!

His intent is all well and good, but in the time it takes NYC's "Only Ones" to respond to a threat, the threat could have killed everyone in the Synagogue. I'm of the opinion that cool headed training so that they know how to use the weapons and can identify and lock on the targets will be more beneficial in the long run. I don't trust the "Only Ones" to get anywhere in time and I can stop a hostile intruder by centerpunching him to whatever afterlife is waiting for him.

So remember kids, if you see the good rabbi choking on a piece of food, or bleeding to death in the street, call 9-1-1 and "let the profesionals handle it".

It appears from the link that this Rabbi writes a column under the heading "On Faith".

It's a good thing he has faith. His faith will do as much good as it did the victims of the Holocaust.

Trust in the Lord, Mr. Rabbi, and dial 911. You'll need more than faith.

I'll trust in the Lord and a 1911, not 911. As Nigel Tufnel said - that's one more.

Best of luck with your faith, Rabbi. Your brand of "faith" has caused endless deaths and suffering.

In this Rabbi's case it appears that his "faith" is actually a grotesque form of denial.

Be a victim if you choose, but leave those of us who aren't inclined to beg for mercy to defend ourselves.

And don't worry. If I see you being attacked I won't intercede on your behalf, being untrained - and thus unqualified, and all. I'd hate to do something of which you'd disapprove. I'll walk about wringing my hands, watching and worrying, hoping that you phoned the "authorities."

The reason the Nazis were able to do what they did is because of putzs' like this. I wouldn't claim to speak for JPFO, but I am a member, and I cringe when I hear this stuff. The guy has had a house fall on him and he still doesn't get it. And since when is holding a gun at the ready, and being resolved to protect your family, "playing soldier?" Schmuck.
