Is NRA Changing Stance On Campaign Finance Exemption Deal?

Perhaps this will amount to nothing, and I expect criticism for posting an uncorroborated statement, but with the intense interest that has gripped the gun community over this story, I owe it to Gun Rights Examiner readers to put the raw intel out there. And who knows? If enough gun owners opposing this call, perhaps it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column presumes that regular readers would want to know about this.

David, I emphatically stand by what I wrote IS what was told to me by both the ILA starting at 09:09 and Membership at 09:20 this morning. Do I think I may have had smoke blown? That is always a possibility and why I placed identical comments on your blog, NRA's Facebook page, and the Houston Examiner. Do not let up on them.

David, I just called back and spoke with Kaylan, who, when I asked for the correct spelling instantly asked: "Who are you reporting for?" This really chapped my butt and told him I keep good notes and you just read me my Life Membership information but will remind you I AM A LIFE MEMBER. I further explained I was a former EVC for Texas's CD15. He backed down and then went on to state what was previously said and that is that the NRA will NOT oppose 5175 IF they are exempted. I asked why I was told just the opposite this morning. He stated that the NRA has and currently opposes HR5175 and that the NRA was told an amendment would be attached to EXEMPT the NRA and was not- as such the NRA opposes it. I then said getting in bed with Chuck Schumer was bollocks, and that was as polite a way I could say it. Moreover, this creates a monopoly for the NRA and this really angered Kaylan. He loudly stated that this was what this was all about, the other gun groups complaining! Then, this is when I really became angry and told him flat out, I AM A LIFE MEMBER of the NRA, have been fighting this longer probably than he has, as long as many with the ILA and was tired of the BS the NRA is pushing. From endorsing McCain, the author of McCain/Feingold to this travesty. The NRA is supposed to defend the rights of ALL American gun owners because of the 2nd and otherwise, how could he explain Kopel's article, TRIMMING CITIZENS as the cover story for June 2010 AFF. That I resented his implication and that as a LM, I expected a follow-up to this and made him read back my number. He said he would pass along my comments. DO NOT LET UP!

What made me decide to go with this is I read your statement to the NRA guy and asked him if it was true, and instead of denying it he kept trying to go back to talking points.

There's something screwy going on with comments--I've approved them but they're not showing up--it's a Blogger issue and not something I can correct.

If you look at a post it may show no comments. If you click on the blog post link, you will not see any but mine. But if you click on the comments link and get the pop up window they will appear.

I'm going into the dashboard to see if resetting things will knock something loose.

David, one thing I did not point out, that caught my attention this morning, but said nothing, was Lori's statement that the NRA is a company. That is very disturbing.
