We're the Only Ones Unimaginative Enough

“I can’t imagine any reason why I would not conceal,” one cop said. “What’s your logic for not concealing?” [More]
Oh, I don't know, Officer "Only One". What the hell's yours?

Why are so many of these unimaginative types seemingly attracted to this line of work?  Unfortunately, I see the logic behind recruiting them...

The law is the law. It is incumbent upon a government agency charged with enforcing the law to obey the law.

The credibility of a government that plays fast and loose with statutes it expects citizens to conform to is extremely questionable.

When a government agency uses color of law for the express purpose of asserting its supposed authority it quickly become irrelevant and subject to well deserved disrespect and derision.

Law enforcement agencies tend not to hire people with above-average intelligence. The explanation they give is that they get bored by the repetitive and mundane nature of police work and move on quickly.
Or maybe they question too much. Laws and methods and department policies that need questioning.

I am waiting for someone that thinks open carry is a breach of the peace to also decide that freedom of speech is only allowed if you speak softly.

Children are sleeping, you know.
