Lies, Damned Lies, and Academic Studies

On average, there are more than three gun dealers for every mile of the 1,970-mile border between the countries. [More]

Yeah, they're all lined up right on the border.

Manipulate much?

I'm confident someone with statistical bona fides and the time to take this apart will be able to find all kinds of other unwarranted conclusions they want us to infer, along with outright misdirection.

According to those statistics (3 shops per mile of border), at 1970 miles of border, then there must be 5910 gun shops in the US. Thus, with 3.79 million square miles of territory, and 315 million people, there must be around 641 square miles per gun shop, or one gun shope per 53299 people. Looks like we need many more gun shops!
