Here's a telling quote:

But in his little corner he presumes to control life. I guess it goes with being used to instant obedience. That must be why he's not too worried if his demands may affect men who formerly served under him.

I see he's got all kinds of awards and decorations. I seem to recall another high-ranking military hero who turned to the dark side.

Of course McRaven is a "Holier Than Thou" superior being who sees mere mortals as undisciplined and un-controlled hot heads who are a hair's breadth away from committing a crime of passion. He isn't one of those, of course, just everyone else who isn't... him.
