ATF temporarily shelves proposed ammo ban while power to proceed remains intact

While arguments are correct that M855 ball ammo does not meet ATF’s own definition of “armor piercing,” the larger point, that there is no legitimate authority to impose such criteria in the first place, is being missed. So when ATF declares they’ll be back, until such time as that usurpation is addressed and resolved, it’s prudent to believe they will be, at the first political opportunity. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes it's OK to breathe a temporary sigh of relief -- just don't make the mistake of thinking it's over, or that it's safe to let our guard down, because they slipped another ban through less than a year ago without all the brouhaha, and they're willing to wait until the time is right to strike again.

What did the Terminator say?

"I'll be back."

Until it's crushed in a hydraulic press, I'd believe it.

And today there is much weeping and rending of garments in the offices of Merril Associates.

I passed this along to as many as I can reach. I believe their are planning on waiting until they think we have become complacent so they can try and sneak it through.

As Rush said on his broadcast today:

Breaking news, ladies and gentlemen. Faced with strong opposition in both houses of Congress, the ATF has decided not to issue a ban on the AR-15 ammunition. The ban on AR-15 bullets has been withdrawn. The ATF's decided not to issue a ban on the AR-15, because of opposition in both houses of Congress. Both houses of Congress, my foot. The opposition from all over this country is what led to that. By the way, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives put out a press release saying that they will not seek a ban on the AR-15 "at this time." They received more than 80,000 comments on their proposal, the vast majority of which were negative. Now, "at this time" is what's crucial. They will do it next time without any announcement -- or if they do it when they make an announcement, it'll be when other things are going on same time and their announcement will be dwarfed so that you don't know about it.

The left never gives up, folks.

They're gonna ban the AR-15 one way or the other, and if it takes doing it while you're unaware, then so be it.
