I Must Not Get the Joke

It is a joke, isn't it? [More]

There aren't actually monsters that believe this, are there?

This reads less like a sincere proposal and more like a pro-gun liberal describing to the anti-gunners how their best-case scenario ends in a degree of totalitarianism that would be undesirable to the average liberal.

Not a joke. This hoplophobe knows he/she/it doesn't have to do the dirty work. Its cowardice has driven it insane, and it believes all 330 million Americans are just as ciwardly. It believes there are no honorable people in the Marshals Service, the DHS, the NG, or the ATF (they might be right about the latter). This is just communist mental maturbation, but there are Democrat politicians who think this is a great idea. Millions will die of it happens. I probably will, but I will take some oathbreaking tyrants with me. David, you might dismiss that as the bragging of a 'molon labian' but I know my life is shorter than most. It has an expiration date, unknown to me but all too easy to guess in general. Before that, by God's strength, I will help prevent a Holocaust in my country, even if I have to die myself. At least my kids and grandkids will not go to the gas chamber.

BE: I actually have a great deal of respect for those who, through their past and continued commitments, actions and sacrifices, have established credibility so that for them, "Molon Labe" is qualified, heartfelt and believable. I will never fault a man for doing what he can to employ civil means the Founders devised. My prayer is that I will prove worthy to stand among them when no other choices are left. The ones I have no use for are the ignorant, lazy, shallow and candidly, immoral chatroom warriors who never lift a finger beyond being anonymous blowhards. From most of them I expect nothing but surrender and even betrayal.

The joke is the author. Whoever it is probably thinks they will just sit by and watch, possibly munching a bag of popcorn. Mike Vanderboegh would be glad to point out how THAT viewpoint is wrong, I bet.

The term "suicide-by-cop" has two meanings.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
