There's another Fame that should "live" forever, and the ideological cleansers in Salisbury, NC, are doing their utmost to go full Taliban on it. Wes Rhinier of NC Renegade got a sound bite in the news video, right after the commie freak in the "Destroy Capitalism Before It Grows" t-shirt.
All those hideous monsters know how to do is destroy.
Note how the reporterette, oozing with faux sincerity, says the statue can't be removed without Daughters of the Confederacy authorization "unless it showed clear, imminent danger to the community." Why not just tell viewers "If you want this to come down by court order, you're going to have to get more destructive and violent"?
But this way, we can add animated and malevolent statues right next to evil magic guns and spook the superstitious herd.
