New Year's Gun Rights Resolution: Don't Spread Unverified Internet Rumors

It's tough enough getting gun owners to respond to real threats or opportunities without frivolously mobilizing and alarming them, wasting everybody's time and energy on distortions and non-issues. [More]
Here's today's offering. It's one of my pet peeves.

Will NRA Update Help Iowa Concealed Carry Bill Pass?

Yeah, only when Bizarro government is involved do the hirelings presume to tell their employers what to do. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at an attempt to make a bill more palatable--but the real story is about those who presume authority to have a say in the matter.

The Articles of Shoes, Stockings and Blankets demand the most particular attention, as the expenditure of them from the Operations and Common accidents of War we find robe greater than Articles of any others. I assure you, Sir, it is not easy to give you a just and accurate Idea of the Sufferings of the Troops at large. Were they to be minutely detailed, the relation so unexpected, so contrary to the common opinion of people distant from the Army, would scarcely be thought credible. I fear I shall wound your feelings by telling you that by a Field return on the 23d. Instant, we had in Camp not less than 2898 Men unfit for duty by reason of their being barefoot and otherwise naked; Besides these, there are many others detained at the Hospitals and in Farmers Houses for the same causes. Little Boxes

But in the meantime, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence fired off the best line of all, noting archly that each year about 30,000 Americans are already securely locked away in human-size boxes, thanks to guns. [More]
Oh, yeah. Ha ha. Good one, Brady and LA Times. Now fire off one about the victims of human disarmament who don't get boxes. They just get shoved into shallow mass graves, thanks to that monopoly of force you degenerates so wish for other men to enforce on your behalf.

Yes, I Know

My Christmas post is not directing to the right Examiner page. So far, I've seen it route people to the Easy Meals Examiner, the Baltimore Sports Examiner and the San Francisco Christian Examiner. I keep republishing it to make it link to the Gun Rights Examiner "Have a Merry Christmas!" post and get it to work for a while before screwing up again.

It looks like the right url, but the wrong page is displayed. Tech support is working on it.

Let me know if it works for you? I have a comment poster I wanted to call attention to, and it's frustrating not to be able to do that.

You'll know him when you see him.

Tennessee Gun in Park Incident Reveals a Scarier Danger

The truth is, many in the public will remain terrified of seeing someone armed who is not wearing a uniform. It does not matter if you are nicely dressed or if your gun is more conventional-looking--whatever that means. In much of the Republic, hoplophobia runs strong. That you have a gun and are not a cop is enough for some. [More]

An Answer for John Cornyn

No. [More]

That traitor, Mike Castle, can go to hell. So can anyone who supports him.

Oh, but then we'll lose all our rights!!!

Bring it on.

Anybody Tell the Wonderful People Who Make Us Take Our Shoes Off?

State police, federal authorities and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday announced the arrests of 12 illegal immigrants who allegedly used fake documents to get jobs at a warehouse business at Stewart International Airport that gave them access to airport operations areas. [More]
Security--as only government can provide it. Can't you just wait for them to take that "No Fly List" and use it to keep you and me from (legally) buying guns?

Disproving a Long-Running Theory

Pro-gun groups jumped at the FBI report, saying it disproves a long-running theory posited by gun-control groups and many in the mainstream media that gun ownership spawns crime and violence. “Anti-gunners have lost another one of their baseless arguments,” Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, told the Examiner's Dave Workman. [More]
Dave gets press for this.

I'm glad to see some in the media noticing. Most will not.

I will take exception to elevating the anti's superstitious nonsense to the level of being a "theory," at least in the sense of the term as implied here.

"Lie" would be a more appropriate word.

More on INTERPOL

We discussed it yesterday.

National Review Online has more from a former prosecutor, who opines:
You just can't make up how brazen this crowd is. One week ago, President Obama quietly signed an executive order that makes an international police force immune from the restraints of American law.

New Year's Gun Rights Resolution: Boycott an Anti-gun Company

About that INTERPOL EO...

A couple of you have asked me about a new Executive Order where Obama is amending a prior EO for INTERPOL. They're discussing it over at Georgia Packing, among other places. I've been asked for my thoughts, so here's my response:
Well, first off I went to the WH site and confirmed it was real.

I'd need somebody who knows how to navigate that stuff explain it to me. It looks like the quoted language in his new EO does not exactly match what is in the '83 EO. And I don't see those subsections repro'd in the USC quote--which would mean somebody--not me--full plate and all--is going to need to analyze the original...

You can find the relevant sections here:
http://www.ipu.org/finance-e/PL79-291.pdf

This ain't the kind of stuff that's my niche--it makes my head hurt and I'm just as clueless as the next guy. if I had to guess, it looks like Reagan took away some immunities for the dang furriners and Obama's restoring them. But you really need someone who is credible with diplomatic law, and I hardly qualify.
If anyone who knows how to wade through this stuff without developing an overpowering urge to slam your forehead into cinderblocks, please educate the rest of us--using very small words.

UPDATE: Correspondent Harvey sends this link. I do not know anything about this website or the writer, but thought I'd pass it on so people who understand such things can let us know if it's an accurate interpretation.
