Je Suis Contre les Milices...

"I am against militias, I am against the private ownership of firearms, and I’m trying to make you think about that. If you are assaulted by an armed burglar, he’ll use his weapon more effectively than you anyway so you’re risking your life. If the criminal is not armed and you are and you shoot, your life will be ruined, because killing someone over a theft is not in line with the republican values that are mine. The private ownership of firearms is dangerous. I understand your exasperation for having been burglarized two times, I understand the fear that your wife and daughter may have but the answer is in the efficiency of the police and the efficiency of the judiciary process, the answer is not in having guns at home."

Mr. Sarkozy, just who in the hell do you think you are to impose your "republican" values on me?

Molon Labe!

Speaking of that, what do you think of "The 300", that movie about the Battle of Thermopylae, David?

France.. isn't this the country that can not control it's youths (that just happen to be Muslim)? The same country that has has so many attacks against the police that the police consider themselves to be in a war against these "youths"? Isn't this the same country where the "youths" are forcing people off of buses at gunpoint and then burning the buses? That France?

"... the answer is in the efficiency of the police and the efficiency of the judiciary process, the answer is not in having guns at home."

As I watch the news footage of Paris burning at night, I will remember just how efficient the Parisian police are.

This is the same France that did not think the theft of their country was worth much resistance, either. And for sure, the Germans used their guns more effectively, wonder why the gendarmes didn't arrest them?

In the 50th anniversary year of the 1956 revolution, he soils his Hungarian heritage!!

Resistance in the streets and the storming of the Csepel Arms factory staved off the Russian army for a bit and ignited the dream in the world that communism can never work!

You betray your great heritage, Sarkozy, an I am truly sad that the great French people will have a(nother) milquetoast for a leader.

Shame on his name! Shame on his family!

Apparently this socialist thinks armed criminals routinely visit gun ranges and expend thousands of rounds of ammo every year in order to hone their skills, while average law-abiding Joes like me never visit the range nor take professional firearms training courses.

And remember, if some bottom-feeder is attempting to rob me (among other things), he's only fighting for my possesions. I'm fighting for my LIFE.

rj: Looking forward to "300"--I've enjoyed Frank Miller's graphic novels, and thought "Sin City" was great. But I don't for a minute think that the libs producing it will give up their socialist leanings. You'd think they'd "get it," but I'm afraid that's expecting too much.

Me too, David. Likewise, neither do I think the libs will learn that fundamental lesson. I do hope they will include thosse now immortal words "Molon Labe", though.
