Hessian Signs Microstamping Bill

Delivering a top priority of the gun-control movement, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation yesterday requiring that new models of semiautomatic handguns sold in California be able to stamp identifying serial numbers on shell casings.

In a surprise move, he also signed a bill banning lead ammunition in the sprawling range of the endangered California condor.

Aren't you glad the major gun groups sat out on the recall election, some even spreading the word to gun owners that Arnold was a "stealth pro-gun candidate"?

It's not
like some of us (OK, me)
didn't warn you.

Is the betrayal complete yet, or are we still going to follow the "lesser of two evils" route? We have a grand opportunity to repeat the Arnold experience on the national level, you know, and we're even being primed for it.

Keep listening to the establishment gun lobby apologists, particularly the ones from those islands of success, California and New York, as they drip with poisonous scorn against anything not originating within their little controlled circles, and boast of their wonderful achievments of getting invited to surrender ceremonys.

Wow--his stealth is brilliantly effective. He certainly knows how to maintain his deep cover.

Also just noticed this from the article:

Although proponents say the law could have a long-term impact on crime, it will have a delayed application.

Never make the mistake of thinking that the civilian disarmament advocates are stupid (not all of them, anyway). They're already sowing the seeds of an explanation for why the law needs to stay on the books even after years go by without its having accomplished anything (other than its true purpose, of making guns less obtainable).

Hmph! Color me not surprised. But then, I didn't vote for this foreign traitor. I voted for McClintock.

The sky is darkening ... feeder bands are sweeping ashore ... the flag is going up ... are we ready?

And just remember... this kind of crap starts here in Kalifornistan, but it has a horrible tendency to spread quite rapidly afterwards. Those of you outside of this political hellhole are safe... for now. Just wait until someone else gets wind of how this moronic bill makes you look tough on crime, while simultaneously passing a not-even-de-facto firearm registry law... and the populace likes it!

Just you wait.

Linoge, there will be a push for this here in Illinois by next spring at the latest--I have exactly ZERO doubt of it.

Arnold has micro stamp on his left upper arm that reads, "My honor is loyalty".

We have a bigger political problem in California.

Arnold is a sleaze, I, too, voted for McClintock, and herein lies the problem.

Real Republicans generally have two principled stands: pro-gun, and pro-life.

In general, in California, almost nobody cares about pro-gun, but 'pro-choice' is always in the top three issues.

Except for just a very few districts, pro-life politicians can't be elected here. And therefore, very few pro-gun politicians get elected, either.

(Both 'pro-life' and 'pro-gun', of course, are umbrella terms for clusters of beliefs [a] too long to drop into this comment, [b] not entirely agreed upon and [c] not all shared by every one who would adopt the terms.)

As a firearms dealer here in CA I can tell you that there are a minimum of 1000 firearms transactions here in this state EVERY DAY. Just imagine what would be accomplished if 1000 phone calls were made every day to the Governor, et al - we'd be buying guns from Amazon.com and have them shipped right to our homes (okay, a bit of a stretch I suppose).

But instead the apathy I see on a regular basis is enough to make me wish for something drastic such as a complete ban on all semi-autos - maybe this would get people on the phone.

There's an idea--start a campaign among gun stores that they encourage every purchaser to call the local representative and say that they want fewer restrictions on firearms. Maybe offer a free phone call and a $5 discount for everyone who makes the call.

What drives me nuts too is the NRA's attitude.

I attended an NRA meeting in LA a few years back, and the guy kept saying "I want to help, I'm from CA, but you have to remember. CA is one state out of 50."

Please. In terms of Population, we're one person in EIGHT. And most of those other people DON'T NEED NEARLY AS MUCH HELP AS WE DO! In World War II, we didn't send an equal number of soldiers to every country and island on Earth. We sent them to where the fighting was.

I hear ya, Anon. I remember when we used to have the Great Western Gun Show--something like 40,000 would show up over a weekend--yet when we went to counterprotest the Million Moms, we got maybe 600 to show up over the course of the day--probably never more than 200 there at any given time.

There's three years to get it repealed...

Remember a great many of the restrictive laws regarding purchase and/or possession of guns was backed financed and lobbied for by gun manufacturers to corner the market from "kitchen table" dealers and mail-order sales, etc.

If greed and short-sightedness weren't so rampant among them this would be a perfect opportunity for them to stand up as did Barrett. But, they won't.

Just think of the impact they could have if they refused to sell any guns in Ca. or to repair or honor any warranties on any gun not capable of microstamping if that gun was sold in Ca. No exception for law enforcement and no sales to federal law enforcement at all, as they are subject to transfer and could possibly end up in Ca.

This would be a winning proposition for them in the long haul. Alas, they are not principled or intelligent enough to see that their continued cooperation will ultimately end with their demise also. So in the interest of short term satisfaction of greed they will sell their futures and our freedom for the immediate gratification.

Didn't the NRA endorse Arnhole for governator? Why are they just shocked, SHOCKED over this...?

David Codrea said...

They sat out on the recall, anon--not a peep out of them. When it was too late to mobilize activists, their state affiliate CRPA weighed in for McClintock, but during the last election, CRPA indeed told itd members to vote for Arnhole, and I included a link to that in the body of this post.

DO NOT CALL ARNOLD A HESSIAN!
Arnold is from Austria, Not from Hesse. As a true Hessian, I am offended that you denegrate all of of Hessians by linking us to a Styrian! Bah!

David Codrea said...

Problem is, 10th M, only about half of what were called "Hessians" were from Hesse.

Hesse-Hanau
Waldeck-Pyrmont

very few if any from Austria-Hungary.

10th Mountain from the Middle of Hesse.
