Join Current TV's Vanguard Journalist, Kaj Larsen, as he gives viewers a closer look at how guns are being used in America in the compelling new pod, "Machine Gun Shootout." On Wednesday, December 12th at 10 pm ET/PT viewers will be shocked to see what Larsen finds at the Knob Hill Gun Range in Kentucky from the operation of tanks and Napalm firing to a 9 year-old shooting machine guns. In this Vanguard special report, Current TV exposes one side of the gun culture issue at the largest machine gun shoot in the country an event most Americans probably didn¹t know existed.
The above text is from the promo email notifying me of the program.
"Viewers will be shocked"?
Sounds hysterical--we'll see. The title link takes you to the general website--I guess we'll need to wait for showtime to get a specific url.
I wonder if a "Vanguard Journalist" is even more special, hip, avant garde and just plain groovy than an "Authorized" one--I guess we'll find that out, too.
UPDATE: LINK NOW GOES DIRECTLY TO VIDEO--and it's not as hysterical as the promo email suggests--it is, in fact, surprisingly well-balanced and enjoyable. My first inclination is to say the PR folks did the segment a disservice by presenting this as a shock piece, but then again, for many who know no better, it probably is, and we can help change that.

A lot of us know that Knob Hill exists, because R. Lee Ermey has been doing shows about it for Discovery Network for years now.
This A.J. is more "rear echelon" than "vanguard". He thinks he's at the front end, but that the army's moving backwards.
Actually, the link is up now, and oddly enough, as hysterical as the promotion sounds, the piece itself looked pretty fair and balanced, to me.
On reading the promotion, I expected the same thing you did, but ended up being pleasantly surprised
Still, old news is old news. I must have seen it two years ago on Mail Call.
Anyway, the link is now technically broken because they're doing some kind of site update.
AH...THERE'S the ol' bait and switch.

One of these loopholes is knows as "parts kits." These are essentially everything you need to make an assault rifle, minus a barrel and receiver. If those parts are then purchased separately, they can be fashioned into illegal, untraceable assault rifles. The ability to buy parts kits is a big draw at shows like Knob Creek.
Or a perfectly legal one. Criminals aren't likely to go to the trouble of building one, let alone finding the info needed to make it into a highly regulated assault rifle when they could easily steal a pistol that they prefer to use. Sounds like he's out to ban parts now...I guess when all the legally owned guns wear out or break and new parts can't be had it doesn't look as bad as if you'd have banned guns in the first place.
Hmm--his written piece, in the Huff'n' Puff Post (thanks for the link, HH) certainly strikes a different tone than the video segment (or "pod," as they call it, for whatever reason) did.
Tying to please two different audiences, you suppose?
45Superman: Link?
45Superman: Link?
this one from Hairy Hobbit's post.
Sorry--messed up the link--here it is.
I'll be "shocked" to see what he finds at Knob "hill" too! It's Knob Creek, not Knob Hill for crying out loud. Typical.
