Part of God's Plan

An American pastor who was sentenced to more than three years in Russian prison on Monday for smuggling hunting ammunition into Russia is confident that "what’s happening to him is part of God’s plan"...
Perhaps.

But it's also part of the plan that you're now a convicted felon, that is, a prohibited person, albeit it is a foreign felony. Say, couldn't promoting Christianity count as a felony with our good friends in China and Saudi Arabia?

No matter, because it's part of the "Vote Freedom First President's" plan that all foreign felonies be used to disqualify American citizens from firearms ownership.

And it's part of "conservative" Supreme Court "Justice's" plans that such foreign laws apply here. *

And it's part of NRA management's plan that all felons be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for "illegal" gun posession.

So much for the original plan, at least as far as the Framers were concerned. As for God's plan for Mr. Miles, I'll leave that between them.

* Ain't it curious how the "liberal" justices ruled in Small v US? And we're told the reason we must hold our noses and vote for McCain is because of his judicial appointments?

We can hope Mr. Miles knows some sinners so on his return in 3 1/2 years he can obtain a self-defense tool.
I'm tired of living in an absurdist play.
Maybe Charlton Heston should REALLY be our president. At least he won't do any harm, being dead and all.

This is part of the defeatist mindset that disgusts me so much. The "well, god/government knows best. I must submit" slave attitude.

It's Earth Day. Plastic and paper are recycleable; essential rights, disposable.

One of my guns might just fall out of my car in front of Mr. Miles's house.
We must all hang together.
And you are correct, mindset makes the difference.

In some countries it's a serious crime to have a Bible or wear a cross. That includes our servicepeople keeping Muslims safe from other Muslims.
No more compromises with the uncompromising.

I can see why Mr. Miles assumed it was okay to carry ONE BOX of 20 rounds of ammunition into Russia. Hasn't King -- I mean GRAN'PA George told us over and over that former KGB chief Vladimir Pooty-poot is our friend now, and so's his puppet Medvedev? Just one big happy New World Order.
Well, New Jersey almost has the same gun laws...

What's he going to do? Bust out of Russian Customs and down the streets of Leningrad?

They got him, and according to the article, he pleads ignorance of the foreign law. We're also talking about ONE BOX of a round almost certainly for a bolt-action rifle. "Smuggling"? I question that.

Now that he's found himself in a very sticky mess, since he is not in control of his situation, the only thing left for a Christ-follower to do is to look to his leader and trust that God's will will be done - and accept it.

Usually beats getting mowed down by AK fire at Customs.

Ya know, I've been thinking about this. It MIGHT be part of Gods plan,to put him someplace where he can reach out to others...I've wondered if that's why I'm where I am sometimes myself.

It's good that he'll probably try to make the best of it, but that doesn't change the facts that he's now probably forever at the whim of the thugs he'll encounter.

A man of G*d is used by G*d, for whatever purposes He has in Mind. I'm sure the Pastor never intended for this to happen. But His Ways,(G*ds), are not our ways, nor His thoughts ours.Read about Joseph in the Bible, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Please try to remember Kent, he is not of a defeatist mindset when he takes that position. He is following the advice of Paul, the apostle. "Who will seperate us from the Love of Christ? Will tribulation,or distress,or persecution.....nothing will seperate us from the love of G*d." I believe that a Christian knows that whatever misfortune befalls them, they still belong to G*d and that He is in control. Men do evil to each other. G*d gave us a free will to do either good or evil. I'm going to pray for him.

Any "man" who imagines that he is owned by someone else, and is only a tool to be used, has already lost.
