Olofson Surrenders

A Wisconsin man today surrendered to federal authorities to begin serving a 30-month prison term for having a broken rifle, prompting the Gun Owners of America to issue a warning about the owner's liability should any semi-automatic weapon ever misfire.
WorldNetDaily has the story. They also quote my GUNS Magazine article.

I don't see anything on Lou Dobbs' site yet about last night's program, but will bring you a video link when they post it.

A prayer for Mr. Olofson and his family would not be out of order.

UPDATE: Jake in "Comments gives us the video link.

Prayers going up.

They've crossed the Rubicon.
Well, AGAIN.

Everybody, and I mean everybody, should be praying for the health and safety of Mr. Olofson and his family. I know I will.

This is beyond words and our elected government is AWOL on this matter. Out to lunch and refusing to take any actions. Let us not forget two Border Agents have been sitting in prison by having a rigged trial and no justice to this very day. Members of congress from both parties sent the President a letter to pardon these men and they are still locked up without ever having a fair trial. Of course the government lawyer is a buddy of Bush which is a small wonder. If it can happen to two Border Agents who didn't commit any crimes and the way Mr. Olofson was railroaded. It can happen to anyone, anyone!
Not only is a payer for Mr. Olofson in order but one for the rest of us and our safety is in order as well.

Well there's a lot more info available now that the court case affidavits have been released. Olofson's not looking so squeaky clean now.

So much for GOA's lies and Olofson's FAKE claim that the gun just "malfunctioned".

I don't care if the rifle was tinkered with, if it was modified to have a "secret" three-round-burst setting or what. The right to arms is the right to arms. Next year something that's perfectly legal now on ALL our guns may be regulated or interpreted into a felony. Unless Mr. Olofson hurt someone with his AR/M/15/16 Frankengun, I say he should be walking among us.
Brooke Bennett of Vermont is dead at the hands -- just HANDS -- of a child molester who may have done the same to many kids. The state AND THE STATE failed her.
Should 12-year-olds have handguns? Sometimes.
The STATE seems to be getting to be the opposite of protecting and serving.

Maybe I'm kinda tired and cranky, but I just spent a few minutes looking at this revelation that "me" points to, as evidence that the Olofson case is or has ever been righteous.

Leave aside, for the moment, that this case is entirely predicated on a "law" which is a victimless malum prohibitum, and therefore entirely lacking in moral legitimacy, and also that said "law" is a pretty clear infringement of RKBA as protected by 2A.

Beyond all that: dude, that is compelling to you? The testimony of one rather polished witness and a singular chain of Only Ones?

I can't speak about Olofson; I don't know the man. He may be a real jerk. But even real jerks have rights--including every one listed in the BoR--and those rights have been violated here under color of law.

"me" is right at least in this regard--something stinks about this case. (Usually does when BATFU is involved, dunnit?)

"me" is certainly free to just believe the Only Ones out of hand when they deign to speak to us little people and Tell Us How It Is:

Little People: "It's Like That, Is It?"
Only Ones: "Yes, It's Like That."
Little People: "Oh, I See. Well, It Must Be Like That, Then."

Such is how we've got ourselves into this sorry state to begin with.

(Maybe "me" can check back in with us from time to time, to see how that "trust Jody Keeku" plan is working out for him. Personally, I'm not holding my breath.)

This is the solid point in this case. The government lawyer said in a court of law that the Olympic Firearms recall was private taxing information.
The case should have been tossed once the judge knew the government willfully mislead the court to cheat a man out of justice during his day in court.
I have case law to support the judge tossing the case out on the spot once it became known the government lawyer was less than truthful. That case law would be when William Jefferson Clinton lied under oath about Monica to cheat Paula Jones out of her day in court. Clinton was impeached as president of the United States. Never mind the fact the senate didn't remove him, he was impeached for cheating a American citizen out of their fair day in court.
Everything else aside, he wasn't giving his fair day in court.

"Me" says "affidavits" but conveniently only presents one--the government's. I've presented half a dozen on this site in past months.

But "Me" thinks BATFU is the one with credibility here. He doesn't say why, but that's what he's telling people.

"Me" attacks GOA--he's one of those "NRA Only Ones" types.

"Me" says on his site that that "intent is a required element"--demonstrably untrue, so it just shows "Me" hasn't read the trial transcripts nor that the prosecution admitted it was not important to prove the gun would do it again if the test were conducted today. What mattered was the government's position that none of the above was relevant because "there's no indication it makes any difference under the statute. If you pull the trigger once and it fires more than one round, no matter what the cause it's a machine gun."

Got that? "No matter what the cause."

So again, he's flat-out wrong.

It's pretty apparent that "Me " is a petty chatroom warrior gloating at another man's misfortune. His reference to "better men" is laughable--particularly when a better one is paying the price for infringements while "Me" hides behind anonymity, snipes from the shadows, and whines that men of achievment give "decent gun owners a bad name."

Talk about not buying hype. The guy smells like a Judas goat who thinks bending over for his masters and pointing out camp troublemakers will cause them to eat him last.

Well, well--I see "Me" is blogrolled on some cop blogs...

Go figure.

Me is beyond reach. His is not a failure of intellect or dearth of information. It is the result of a mutated soul and concomitantly affected character.

He probably does carry a badge.
But that is just a guess based on how good he sounds on his knees in front of his self-accepted masters.

exhibit A come "assault weapon" gun ban: this video

"that conviction has drawn attention among gun enthusiasts, because it centers around a rifle that is widely owned: the ar-15."

The raw truth of this whole matter is, injustice that was allowed to stand with full knowledge by the federal judge residing over this case.
I and a large amounts of United States Citizens are questioning this conduct of a federal court.
Seemingly, we have a major problem in the criminal justice system at the federal level.
Being said, who is safe from such injustice?
