Mount Vernon to Stage Flash Points

Police will begin staging gun checkpoints at the city's borders tonight as a way to curb violence in the city, officials said yesterday...

[O]fficers will stop cars and talk to drivers about antiviolence, the Mount Vernon and county gun programs and even ask if people are carrying illegal firearms, Chong said. He added that the checkpoints will be similar to DWI checkpoints.

"We are not going to violate anyone's civil rights, but there has to be a very strong and clear message. Law-abiding citizens have nothing to fear," Young said.
Yeah, as long as you let us temporarily take you hostage and act with appropriate servile obedience, we'll maybe let you live.

But if you act like a free man, well, we're going to have us a problem. Besides--what have you got to hide?

Everybody still believe "it" can't happen in America?

Already done. When I told a buddy at the gun show yesterday that we live in a police state, he didn't know what I was talking about. No one notices, and the movie rolls on.(Fight Club). Parking was ornerous at the Ft. Worth gun show yesterday, both lots overflowing, people parking illegally everywhere. Everyone I saw leaving(including me)left with guns, ammo or both.Tick,tock.

Who says the folks that are lawful citizens what to take with the police in the first place.
We are going to force you to stop. We are going to force you to talk to us the way we want the conversation to go and if you don't play along we will rip your car to pieces to teach you a thing or two.
One a citizen leaves their home in today's world they are targets for parasites to scam in one way or another for money.

Not to worry. You don't even need to leave your home to receive similar "service" from our fine protectors. Do anything that raises your existence to their notice or just have the bad luck to live at an address they might mistake for one with illegal activities and late one night they'll come knocking. Actually they won't. With easy access to no knock warrants the first thing you'll hear is the crash of your doors being kicked in.

"Checkpoints", whether for "impared driving" or weapons, should be our "line in the sand". Absolutely unforgivable in a free country, or in a country that wants to be free again.

Time to march to the mayor's house. That's how we'd handle it here. Uh, there'd be no need to SEARCH us to see if we had guns, either.
Remember, only the engine block of a car is reliable cover. The rest is just concealment.
I am NOT a law-abiding citizen. Not when the law says "No self-defense" or "Only with my written permission."

This is blatantly UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!! The US Supreme Court has ruled that random, or other, stops of traffic can only be for detecting and preventing DUIs or other bona fide emergencies (such as searching for an escapee). Do not allow anyone to search your vehicle at any time. Preserve your rights!

I see that seven men were stabbed the other night in a nightclub in Queens during a "quarrel." Two are in critical condition.
Waiting for the previous-convictions recital, etc.
But at least no one was shot. Two of them COULD die, but at least not from bullets.
Think they care?
Probably thinking -- assuming they still can -- "Shoulda been carrying a piece."

Oh, about "law-abiding people having nothing to fear...
67 years ago today, Nazis herded tens of thousands of Jews and other Russian undesirables into a ravine called Babi Yar. None came out alive.
Something else they had in common: no guns.
To some, "different from" means "less than." It makes it easier for those with a certain proclivity to cancel their lives like letters at the post office. Chunk, chunk, chunk. It gets repetitive, even boring, but at the end of the day you can look at the literal hill of bodies, or ravine that's now full, and have a feeling of accomplishment.
These days, gun owners and rights advocates are painted as "different from" the GOOD people.
