Prior to the officers arriving, police say the suspect forced his way into the victim's home. The victim attempted to evade the suspect by retreating into a bedroom. The suspect followed her and she fatally shot him.Too bad the Brady Campaign's "home rule" (you know, the one where the government rules your home?) wasn't in effect--then she might be dead.

See? Here is a perfect example!
If you buy a gun it will only add to the violence!
Longbow
Good for her, tough shitsky for him. No means no, I've heard.
The Brady Bunch will surely use this to pad their stats ... "if you own a gun you are more likely to shoot someone you know."
Shocking vigilantism!
That's what the prosecutor said when a South Texas man shot and killed one of four "youths" who broke into his mobile home looking for "snacks and sodas." He says he feared for his life. I believe him. I will do the same. Your home is your home. Home invaders have a clue they shouldn't be there. If they don't care about that, why should we assume they care about ANYTHING?
Settle their hash. Worry about legalities later. Better than being in the obituaries as "a nice person, never hurt anyone."
I'm glad she had a gun and I'm glad she was able to use it effectively.
One thing that bothers me about so many of these stories, however.
Far too many people don't even bother to lock their doors! This should be the first line defense for everyone.
Second, far too many people answer the door and let perfect strangers come in!! This is nuts!!
Whether strangers or those known to be potential trouble (like x boyfriends, etc.) is really dumb.
Using deadly force is right and necessary to defend your life, but a little common sense used to take some basic precautions would lower the odds of needing to do so... and probably improve the overall outcome of such things.
If the intruder can just march right in without breaking anything, the battle is probably over right there. DUMB
Does anyone else note how calm and sedate the description of the event is? "Retreated" to a bedroom, "followed" by the criminal, etc.
What, something akin to "the attacker broke down the victim's door and chased her into a bedroom where the cornered victim shot the attacker" doesn't sit well with you author-types?
