No need to have a NFL program to do that. Pretty soon the "Felons barred from firearms ownership" law will catch up to 90% of them.
If the NFL wants to take that stance, they are more than welcome as a private institution. They are not a government entity. And any player that agrees to such a condition of employment is free to do so.
