The Police Cruiser Loophole

A thief cut through a fence at the California Highway Patrol's Martinez office early Tuesday, broke into numerous cruisers, and made off with a semiautomatic rifle and ammunition, authorities said.
It has the convenience of an all-night store, but none of the hassles. No background checks, no paperwork, and check out those prices!

And "Only Ones" Guns has convenient locations nationwide to serve you!

Wait a minute! Doesn't California have any "safe storage" laws? How dare these cops leave lethal weapons where criminals could get at them!!

There ought to be a law! Oh wait, there are tons of "laws," just none that apply to cops it would seem.

That reminds me of the State Trooper in VA that would leave his keys in a basket with others at the front of the gym when he worked out. Nice move considering his rifle, sidearm and body armor were all in the car (which was a State Cop car). I assume the badge was in there as well. Way to think "Only Ones" style.
