Maximum Mike is Out

U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan has officially resigned from his job as acting director of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Sullivan, a Republican, has been doing both jobs since August 2006. His resignation from the ATF is effective Jan. 20, the day of President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration.

He was nominated for the permanent position in March 2007, but his confirmation was held up by several Republican senators...[More]
So holds on nominees can work.

But some would have us believe we're unrealistic to expect just one of the 14 senators endorsed by NRA--Heaven forbid, even John McCain, who the Association went to bat for despite any merit--would be principled enough to put a hold on Eric Holder, easily the most anti-gun AG since Janet Reno.

Yeah, right.

We could end up with one worse knowing the extreme anti gun cabinet he is putting together. Either way we are in for a long fight.

The Brady camp is talking as if the fight is almost over and won. They are confident that Obama won't be a Clintonian slacker.
To all their goals, shared by Eric Holder and about half of Congress -- ending gun shows, owner registration, "smart" guns, ammunition limits -- we say not just "No" but "Hell, No!"
We've BEEN in a long fight.
I don't know what's up with Sullivan, either. Is he afraid he's too old-school for the new young turks coming in, and he'll be laughed at because he's too SOFT on us?
To some, Waco is literally history. Those who were 10 then are old enough to hold elected office. A Clinton or a Bush has always been the President. What's THEIR view on force, dissent and the Bill of Rights?

Don't hold your breath waiting for principles from any of them. Check the Freedom Index at thenewamerican.com, one of the surveys a while back showed 48% of the r's voted to the left of ted kennedy.
